I slept on and off all that day and night and he went back to the hotel. I was one of the lucky ones I guess...gas but not as bad as you hear others compain about. No nausea, so sipping water was OK and I chewed 1/2 Gas-X at a time whenever I started feeling bloated or hurting and I would just get up and walk in circles to help the gas move. I moved to the hotel the 2nd day and laid pretty low that day, but by the next day I was up walking. They sent the van to pick us up every time they needed to flush my IV, or give me antibiotics, or when they removed the drain. The hotel had a restaurant that had lots of chicken soup broth so that was great! The last night we were there we walked across the street to a little restaurant/store and Jim ate and they had broth and jello which I had. I never did just stick to clear liquids or any other "diet" or "time schedule"...I just knew my own body well enough I guess. Anyway we flew home on Sunday and I went back to work Monday (secretary) and although I was tired and my tummy muscles were "sore" (like I'd done too many sit-ups) I did just fine. Then on that Thursday I cooked Thanksgving dinner for my family and 1 week after having surgery I ate 1 tsp. of mashed potatoes with gravy and 1 tiny bite of dark turlkey meat which I chewed into a puree...and the rest is history! Good luck! And remember YOUR attitude will determine YOUR outcome!!! You'll do GREAT! Email me when you can and let me know! Hugs, ChaiDi

I took my hubby so spent the first night in the hospital (he was at the Hotel Ticuan) then they released me and I stayed there with him. We flew in Wed. night and stayed at a local hotel, then Thurs. morning they sent a van to the airport and picked up 7 of us that were having surgery that day. They did the blood work and the EKG when we got there, and after signing the paper work and getting in a gown they put in an IV and wrapped our legs tighly with ace bandages (kinda of like the elastic socks you'd wear in the U.S. to keep from getting a blood clot.) Dr. A came in and took a photo with each of us. I was the lucky 1st one and walked myself into the surgery room and climbed up on the table and was telling the nurse how pretty her eye makeup was and BAM I was out...guess they put the anesthesia in my IV. They told me the surgery took 45 minutes and that I woke up and walked myself to the recovery room and was talking to people but I don't remember any of that. Then they said I walked myself to my regular room. I slept for another hour or so and when I woke up they let my husband come in to see me.

You'll do GREAT! You've obviously done your homework by reading everything on this sight and you're smart enough to know that you'll get out of this what you put in to this. Some just go into this thinking it's going to be a breezy miracle and they're the ones that have problems and gripe and complain. It's very much a head game. You'll have good days and bad days, we all do, but keep the end goal in mind, use your new sleeve as the tool it was meant to be and you'll end up like most of the rest of us...saying it's the best thing you've ever done for yourself, bar none! Email me anytime and I'll give you a pep talk! I LOVE my sleeve and the life it has given back to me! Don't freak because you're "going to TJ", and don't freak because Jerusalem Hospital isn't the Mayo Clinic...it's CLEAN, state of the art and everyone there is very well trained and they WANT you to do well! Three cheers for you - YOU GO GIRL!!!!! Chai Di
