Thanks! Good luck to you as well!
  2. Hi Smilez - good to hear from you. My journey is going rather easy...not sure why but no issues at all. In fact I get concerned that I can eat more than I think I should be able to. I am 1 month out and last night my family went out for dinner and I ate 1 slice of pizza, with the crust removed. I easily could have had another piece.

How are you doing...is everything going well? Let me know!

You made it...yaaaaaaayy!! take it slow and take care of yourself.....
  6. Well I did it. Surgery was at noon on April 23 in San Francisco. Because of the distance to my home (3hrs) I stayed 2 nights which was good. By this morning I was up and dressed and ready to go home. Day 2 was the most uncomfortable because of the gas. Still working on getting that all out by walking alot. The MD says it can take up to 5 days to get it all out.

I'm sore. I'm hungry, but I had to be on a sugar free clear liquid diet for 7 days pre-op. After my surgery, I haven't had an appetite for anything really. Anything more than a sip of liquid makes my tummy hurt a bit. I guess it's because it's still healing. The pain drip came out today. That was a bit strange, but it didn't hurt.

Good luck on your surgery! You're going to rock it!

Thank u soooo much!! Im 13 days now and its been a struggle. I do feel alot better though!! Again Thanx!!
  10. Hi JennySower, Actually I don't have a pre-op diet. I have been dieting for the past couple of months and lost the weight that was required. But as far as pre-op diet I only have to eat lite the day before, take a laxative and that's it. There are several people that I work with that have gone to the same surgeon and they were not put on a liquid diet prior either and didn't have any problems. Are you doing ok with everything. I getting nervous and excited.
  11. Hi dawnrachel,
My surgery date is the 23rd of this month too. 9 more days and counting. How are you doing on your post-op diet?

5 days post-op - 11 pounds down!

by dawnrachel on 04-28-2013 at 12:09 PM
While I am still on my first week post-op, the doctor said I could introduce tomato soup made with milk. I had it for dinner and it was the best meal ever. But what happened is that I didn't want my last protein drink of the day. Since my last real protein was at lunchtime I woke in the night with a funny feeling that I can only attribute to hunger pangs. I laid there for a a while trying to figure it out. Finally at 3:30 a.m. I got up and had SF jello and guess what, the funny feeling went

YAY for me - 2 days post op

by dawnrachel on 04-25-2013 at 05:23 PM
I just really have to drop a line about being post op. I kinda can't believe I did it. I was so apprehensive until I spoke with the surgeon and anesthesiologist just before the surgery. Surgery was 1.5 hours and they also worked on a haital hernia that I didn't know I had.

It took a good 18 hours for the anesthesia to wear off so I was quite groggy. Then yesterday I was working on getting the fluids and protein in but there was so much gas in me I couldn't drink much at all.

Reinforcements Please!

by dawnrachel on 04-21-2013 at 10:57 PM
As most of you,I have spent a long time deciding to do this. A few weeks ago I found this site and have been reading like crazy. I had only been thinking about how great this surgery will be for me. I decided that I also need to read and be aware of potential problems so I started focusing on those posts. Some of those posts while they tell the truth are making me think the worst. My surgery is 3 hours away in San Francisco so I leave tomorrow. Surgery on Tuesday morning. I'm starting to get
