No one tells you this: You bloat after surgery. I gained 18lbs. I thought my skin was going to burst. No one told me I looked like the stay puft marshmallow guy. (they were being nice)
It took a week for that water to disappear - and in that time I took the opportunity to ignore what I was told and to significantly curtail my water intake. Move ahead to week 1.75

I've returned to work. It hasn't been as bad as I had expected it to be. I am super fatigued though. No more mid-day naps for me! I am, like everyone else, learning to live with the changes made by surgery. New drinking techniques, new eating techniques, and the repercussions of eating the wrong thing.

In recovery. Nurses are great! I get my own view of the potty! I am a little loopy but the pain management has been difficult.

Had a little burp in the insurance yesterday. Call: You're not covered! Whoa! Calls to COBRA provider, insurance company. OOPS: We had the wrong number - You're covered! Now pay us! WTF?
Ate a whole loaf of bread, and pooped in the refrigerator yesterday. I wasn't even mad. (Truth: loaf of bread; Lie: refrigerator incident)
I am going under tomorrow. Appointment is at 1030..thinking maybe 12ish? Got my meds, slippers, new PJs and my vitamins.

Cutting out the caffeine at the same time I cut out almost all forms of nourishment, while a week away from surgery was probably a bad idea.
The caffeine withdrawal lasted three migraine inducing days - last time I did this, I only remember it lasting one day - and I have been cutting back. It shouldn't have been this bad but it was. I feel the pain of those that have tried to get off some serious substances! I am glad that is done.
