Hi there! Yes I am super excited to have my surgery. I am hoping to have it in the next 4-6 weeks. I totally understand the up and down with the Thyroid. I never had an issue with mine and then one day I woke up with a lump in my throat, that as the days went on got progressively worse. By the time I had my surgery to remove it, you could see it. The lump was about the size of a golf ball. I have not been able to lose the weight that I have gained since getting ill. I have probably put on about 100 lbs in the last 6 years. I am wanting to get m y life back and be comfortable with exercising again. I will be more then willing to share my journey with you.

A month out

by Darcybecky on 07-22-2013 at 05:18 PM
And my how time crawls!! I am so ready for real, regular food, or at least the "ok" from the doc to start as tolerated.
I had my first protein shake like I drank prior to surgery today and I must say....it was horrid. My taster hasn't changed much for most everything, but....this was really yucky and not wanting to stay down. I've not vomited or anything since the first day of surgery, but I wanted to today. So, I guess I'll continue to get my protein in with foods......or the

2 weeks post op....

by Darcybecky on 07-06-2013 at 11:27 AM
And I have to stay I"m doing quite well. I had my post op appt. last week (sorry, computer troubles preventing me from blogging before) and got a very positive check up. My bloodwork looked great, my liver biopsy showed no signs of "fatty liver disease" (go figure, overweight all my life and no liver damage, YAY ME!!), my swallow looked good so I"m right on the great path to success. My only down side (and the doc didn't feel this way) was that I had only lost 6 lbs from the

Monday monday......

by Darcybecky on 06-24-2013 at 10:09 AM
Good morning everyone, it's Monday!! Do you know where your proteins are?? Mine are nicely mixed with ISOPURE's Alpine punch and crystal light fruit punch. Not too shabby for a morning breakfast. It's not eggs and bacon by no means, but it beats the hell out of nothing....so I sip......
Today I woke up feeling pretty "normal". That's good right? I"m pleased that I"m able to drink without incident, both hot and cold liquids. One of my dear sweet friends brought me some

3 days out.....

by Darcybecky on 06-22-2013 at 04:53 PM
I just had my surgery on Thursday and am back home today (i live about 5 hours away). The surgery went as well as can be expected for a surgery, I will tell you that the nausea that follows the next day or two is HORRID. Gas pains? yep, a few, even today. Vomiting? not much came out, but lots of dry heaving. According to the nurses, it's your belly's way of dealing with the trauma and your heads' way of thinking you'll feel better, if you'd just throw up! My insurance took about 4 weeks, I

Everyone probably knew this and I do now but sonic slushy mix is not sugar free. Even if the flavoring is...... Just a little FYI.
