Thank you so much for your reply. I am going to pick up the phone and make that phone call today and book it in. I guess just having a young family I worry what if something happens to me and I'm not there for my kids. The scary part for me about the surgery is the leak. What if? I guess I just have to stay positive. I really appreciate your feedback, makes it easier talking to someone that's used the same surgeon. Will keep you posted.

Hi there, i am new to this page and I am reading your surgeon was dr Taylor. I am considering the sleeve but I'm really scared of the whole process. I saw dr Taylor yesterday and feel very confident with him. Was originally considering lap band but he recommended the sleeve. Just wondering where you scared or how you felt before the op? Have had both my kids at Mater so I know they are very good there. Some feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Hello...well my Dr didn't set me a goal.
I started out weighing 235 pounds...my Dr made me do 2 weeks of a very low calorie diet to reduce the size of the liver...which was hard to do.
Another girl on the same day said her dr threatened to cancel her surgery if she didn't stick to it..it's mainly because of the difficulty in operating with a fatty liver..I think you'll be fine.

Hey. Thank you for responding ! I do have some questions. I am very scared that they might cancel my surgery. I dont know about your doctor but mine set a goal weight when I originally went to him like a year and a half ago. At that time I weighed 279? He said my goal weight would be 266. After that because of getting depressed and having to wait so long because of all the steps to take I ended up gaining 10 lbs and went to 289. I have since lost back down to 269 and today was back at 271. Did your doctor have you do that? If so, would he have cancelled your surgery had you done this with weight? I am scared that he will. I hope not because I am so excited about my surgery.....

You will be fine..I believe Dr Taylor even does phone consults...so at least they are just a phone call away.I've had a few questions after my surgery and have always got a reply the same day,which was fantastic.
As long as you have a good GP..most of them nowadays are up to date with this type of surgery..

Thanks so much Maria for answering my questions. It makes me feel so much better knowing someone who has gone through it already with the same Dr and Hospital. I'm glad you are doing so well and didn't have any problems. I kind of stress about that because after two weeks I will be back in Alice Springs where they don't have any bariatric surgeons if something goes wrong. One of the drawbacks of living in such a remote place. I have to think positive thoughts though. Nothing will go wrong. I have to keep telling myself that.

Thanks for the friend request. I see you were sleeved by Dr Taylor. I have my first appt on Oct 15th with a tentative surgery date on Nov. 25 with him. Any opinions on him or The Mater? Did you have any problems? Sorry for all the questions but I'm just excited to find someone who has went through him for the sleeve.
