  1. Thank you Rona for the welcome..I am new to this site or even chatting with others..I may not even be able to contact people because computers confuse me..but here I am hoping all goes well for you..I think this whole process will take some time and with spring coming we will get more execise and outdoor stuff..I have been cooped in all winter with tons of snow and bitter cold..Keep me posted if you can..We got to keep each other going..I lost 105 pounds both pre and post op..but my surgeon isn't happy I didn't drop another fifty..I guess I am stagnating and it is frustrating for me even to lose a few pounds..Going to planet fitness today for more exercise..Have a great day..Linda (Joe is my husband) Lindy Jo on my license plate..Maine lady..

keep up the good work. Take each day as it comes. Everyone's journey is different. The true answer to it all is "Don't Quit, Never give up!!!" We can do this. I stopped comparing myself to others that had their surgery around the same time as I did. Some are dropping pounds faster than I, but they do not have the same lifestyle as I do..or schedule. It isn't an excuse, its a fact. I run when I can(5k)and I exercise at home.(XBox Zumba). I have been slacking with the myfitnesspal entries, but I have been holding steady with my weight. I will focus on myfitnesspal after the holidays...best wishes to you on your endeaver. Great things are in your future!!!
  3. I finally got down to 199....... Wonderland at last!

I'm great! I'm glad you are doing well. I'm down 107 including 20 from the pre op diet. I keep my carbs way down. I thinks that's why I've lost that much so quickly. Hope you continue with your success. Enjoy your vacation! Margaret.

I lost 38lbs before surgery because I was required to be on a diet for 3 months prior to my surgery date of March 11th. I am not exercising as fiercely as I should be, however I count my caloric/protein intake using myfitnesspal. I was on the treadmill almost every night to get my cardio in, but I have been slacking lately. I have been working with weights, 3lbs, 5lbs, 15lbs. I am doing planks and muscle toning exercies in the place of cardio(just trying to switch things up a bit). I still eat out, I occasionally snack on something that I shouldn't. I just forgive myself and start over. It is a struggle for all of us and everyone is different. Keep doing the right things..and it sounds like you are, and you will see the results. Actually, if you werent't required to diet before surgery, you have bypassed me a great deal..think about it, I have not lost a total of 20lbs post surgery. I guess my body is reshaping itself and I am losing more inches instead of weight. Also, only getting in around 600 calories a day...some days I get in 800. I am still struggling to get all of my water in, but I try really hard. I usually get in around 48oz. of liquids a day. I feel like I am not losing weight as fast as I should, but any weight loss is movement in the right direction, and I will take it!!! My Dr. says 2lbs a week is over 100lbs in a year..thats a lot!! It helps me stay positive when the scale doesn't move as fast as I want it to. God Bless on your Journey!
  8. Hi there,
I am doing great! I have has two stalls but manage to get through them. They can be very upsetting. My doctor took me off my all but one BP pill for my heart rate. She also cut my cholestral in pill in half. Took me off 2 other pills. I am swimming again and trying to walk a lot. I have both Graves and Hashimotos, (hypo & hyper) so we are still trying to get the dosage right. I never knew you can have both! lol
I have been eating everything but steak, pasta and bread. of course no candy, chocolate, chips, baked goods etc. I hate eating breakfast so I have now started having a protein drink for breakfast instead of coffee and I feel better since then. My doctor said I could have coffee but I decided this was a good time to stop. It took me 2 weeks to get it out of my system. I was so very tired all the time. I did not realize that coffee affected me so much and I only had one in the morning to wake me up!
I have made pizza out of the small flatouts, crisping up in the oven first then adding turkey pepperoni, green peppers, mushrooms, pizza sauce and mozzarella cheese. Heavenly. My husband actually likes them better than store bought.
I have lost a total of 27 lbs. so far and it is noticable.
Keep in touch and keep up the good work.

How's it going, how are you feeling? I'm better. Waiting to hear if I have to go on antithyroid meds, and they put me on beta blockers for my racing heart rate. I seem to be at a plateau, which my N.P. warned me about. I got the go-ahead to experiment with more foods,so I've been having wheat thins and boy are they heavenly! I'm also having half caff coffee, and seem to have no impact from the caffeine. Seeing a chiropractor for my back, too. I hope all is well with you!

I did well, although the Easter Bunny did not visit my spouse, it completely slipped that bunny's mind, lol! It's not a big to-do for us, so it wasn't difficult. I have been losing, although it has slowed down. My PA suspects my thyroid caused the weight to come off faster, which causes some concern, since I was symptom free in October but now my heart is racing, I'm tired, and I feel stupid. Kinda ridiculous, the fat girl has pre-hyperthyroid (oh so contradictory), and after weight loss surgery it begins to make me lose weight faster. Geez! So not right!
I hope your plateau ends soon, they really do mess with our heads, don't they! Way to go re: walking! I'm still having light-headedness, so I'm a little afraid to start. Hang in there. What are you eating these days, and how's your liquid intake? I am apparently dehydrated, too, but putting lime in my water has made drinking enough a lot easier. Hang in there!

I"m getting there. Very tired of pureed food, but I know this will pass. Be patient about the weight loss, it'll start coming off. I've read so many accounts of slow weight loss in the first 6 weeks. I think our bodies go into starvation mode for a while, lucky us! I'm trying to focus on how I feel - which is exhausted. The weight is coming off for me, but not as fast as for some, but I'm expecting a stall any day. I got the okay to use my treadmill, so hopefully today I won't be so pooped when I get home from work and will be able to do 5 minutes. Hang in there!!

Zero calorie noodles

by iamredforever on 06-25-2013 at 04:26 PM
I really missed pasta after my sleeve. I found NO Oodles on the groupon site and bought them. There are no calories at all. SO I thought, let's see how these do. Well when I received them I was a little put off by the look of the packages. Tonight I made spaghetti sauce and my husband had regular noodles and I had NO Ooodles. I love them!!!!! All you do is drain the package under hot water and then add your sauce. No cooking at all, and no calories!!!!! yeah.

10 days and first family doctor appointment

by iamredforever on 03-14-2013 at 11:11 AM
I just got back from seeing my Doctor, and she was very impressed. Since I did not get my surgery at her hospital, she was very leery at first. She took me off one of my blood pressure pills, cut my cholesteral pill in half and said she might cut a few more things in 3 months.
She told me that my surgeon Dr. Ben-Meir called her to let her know how I was and she was very impressed with this. She said most doctors do not take the time to let family doctors know how their patients are. She

8 days and rounding the corner

by iamredforever on 03-13-2013 at 01:23 PM
Okay today is the first day I actually feel like myself. I slept like a baby last night. I stopped wearing the compression wrap. The headaches stopped. I am able to get in all my protein and liquids. Yippee
If it wasn't so cold out side I would have gone for a walk but instead I am walking in the house. I really have not lost anymore more weight, not sure why not, but I am sure it will start coming off.
Every once in a while I think of food, not like before when I thought of it all

5 Day after surgery

by iamredforever on 03-10-2013 at 12:54 PM
Every day is better and better, I even like the Premier Protein shakes.
For some reason I am having problems sleeping. The incisions are healing nicely. No more pain just not myself yet. I am uncomfortable but able to go up and down the stairs. I am so happy I did this. There was a time a day after surgery that I said to myself "what the HELL have I done".
