Prayer is always a welcome. I will see what I can locate for the compression garmet. As for the incisions I will wear my shirts losely and I will also be praying for the best. I am thankful that I mostly ride a desk so we will see.

I am not sure if you fully understand the situation. When I said that I have to go to work I mean that I leave home and do not return for 14 days. I work offshore in the Gulf of Mexico on a 14 days on and 14 days off rotation. I will have to suck it up while I am offshore and do my best to get in the 12 hours a day that is required of me. I am thankful that for the most part it is a desk job and is not often that I have to get physical. They all know about the surgery and are willing to cover me on the physical parts for the first hitch back after surgery

Oh that's horrible!! I hope it smartens up for you soon. I couldn't imagine still being on liquids! I am on solid foods now. Everything has sat ok except if I eat too fast I puke (did it twice), some solids sit like a log in my stomach. And I tried a different type of protein bar and it gave me horrible dumping syndrome. Other than that not too bad. It's weird as I almost feel back to "normal" even though I have to remind myself to eat slow and chew chew chew or I eat too much and my stomach feels like its going to explode.

Nope. I had to leave because I had ordered my "last supper" and had to go get it before they closed... when I got back I had answers to my questions I had typed a few days before and there was a note from Lora "sorry Dr Ramos was a no show". He evidently got on later because my questions were answered but no, you didn't miss anything. Lora had said he was rushing home...maybe stuck in traffic?
  5. It just becomes a habit. Since i had the lap band 6 years ago, i am used to having water or juice with me all the time. I start back to work tomorrow night. I work 12 hour shifts 7pm to 7am in the emergency room. I hope i don't tire too much. My energy level is still low. I am 12 days out so i am getting a little nourishment every day. Later, dennis

Hey girl!! It's not moving super fast.. I was 224 in jan and 212 surgery day.. So it's going gradually. How's being on normal foods? It's so weird for me and I have trouble with overeating.
  7. I'm not eating either - I mentally call things eating so that I separate drinking from eating ... I don't know why, I guess because my doctor told me that 1% milk was a meal so I've gone with that. I do need to log those as fluids and count them. Maybe I'm doing better than I think.
  8. That is because i am not eating. I am on liquids and i drink constantly. If you follow the post program, you will get your fluids in. One thing i find on the forum is more "I can't" than "I will". It takes a commitment every minute of every day !! Dennis

If you're struggling with purees, don't be afraid to bring it to your surgeon's attention because it could be the beginning of a stricture.

Wow, is that pain normal? I never had pain swallowing anything. I felt chest pressure the first couple of days in the hospital but no pain while consuming liquids. I'm doing well drinking lots of vitamin water zero & water. I walk every day in small amounts, but I hope to hit the treadmill tomorrow! I hope you feel better soon & check with your surgeon on this issue. Good luck on your walks!

Thank you! I feel good, just a little weak when I stand too long or do too much. How about you, how are you feeling?
  12. Thanks Kizzy I will try your protein shake! i'm also looking at unjury plain or chicken stock. I can't believe our other patient can eat regular food, that's crazy! I'd be nervous to go so off-map but I'm jealous all the same

Oh, ok! I think I remember Dr.Kelly mentioning you. Yes, I was lucky and did not have to get a drain. The lady on the other side of me had a drain as well. She and I keep in contact and she is doing well, also. She started eating regular food within the first week, though. The pain just went away today, it was weird. I started eating my protein shake and to my amazement...NO pain! It was great, except then I thought maybe I had stretched my tummy out or something. I use PureProtein Whey frosty chocolate. Its not too bad! I use almond extract or imitation banana flavoring to help give some variety.

Hey, there! I don't know if we met...I have had the same pain. Any time I put anything into my tummy, I have had that pain. UNTIL today. I've just been having some protein shakes to try and get my protein in, some pureed soups and I tried a little tuna yesterday. I just feel soooo lost on what to eat! And how much and how often! UGH! I'm really really trying to get my head into the right frame. I'm trying not to mourn the food I'm not eating...if that makes any sense.
  15. Thanks Lulu! I've had some opposition for family who are just worried about me and who also think there must be a simpler way to do it through hard work and dedication. They don't get it and that's been upsetting to me. That said, I don't have any reservations about the surgery and feel we will be given the utmost care and attention! I look forward to talking with you and in the months following helping each other with the difficulties, celebrating triumphs along the way !

I feel like a new baby with food!

by leo39 on 05-23-2013 at 05:07 AM
Hi there everyone, its been awhile!
Things have been really busy because my husband and I are planning a renewal of our vows Well, I am planning and my husband is planning to show up on the day LOL. We went through some insecurities when he lost weight and now there are some on his end that I am losing weight. I'm down to 166 and I am finally seeing the results. I have to post a new picture, I actually am getting that hourglass shape again. It's nice, I have to say.
I continue

Things are finally moving along

by leo39 on 05-04-2013 at 11:59 AM
Hi there
I feel several weeks back from the rest of you but I'm starting to feel the benefits of the sleeve without all the bad side effects I was dealing with. I can now drink water and it doesn't hurt! That has made my fluid consumption go way up and my weight loss start to move way down. I'm also able to eat food - we are talking bites here, but I can eat food that isn't mashed, pureed, or liquid. I'm re-entering the land of the living!
I have learned a few things about this

Trying to be upbeat and stop feeling sorry for myself

by leo39 on 04-15-2013 at 04:17 PM
Hi to my small circle of friends online! I want to thank you for your support and all the information that has come my way by being on this site. It has been a huge blessing.
I just heard about the bombings in Boston and I feel so foolish for my complaints. I am trying to just be at peace with the way my journey is going. I had complications, I had a tough surgery to recover from (blood loss was more than expected, I also had the flu at the same time) but the sleeve is working and I have

Spring is here!! And I've a new spring in my step!

by leo39 on 04-08-2013 at 04:21 PM
Hi there, I've been absent for a bit because I've been so busy - in a good way. Spring cleaning was a pleasure this past week or so, now that I have energy. Today was my first day in ages without anyone home all day. Normally when this happens I stay in my pj's and sleep till the kids come home. Not today! I did not know what to do with myself, but I knew I wasn't tired and I couldn't have slept if I tried. Which is funny because I've been moving and working so much more in the past few days

Day 25! ER now behind me...moving on!!

by leo39 on 03-29-2013 at 04:46 PM
Hi there
So, I've been not doing so well but 24 hours in the ER helped ALOT. I think it was dumb I didn't go a week ago, in hindsight but at the same time it was rough to be in there.
I was dehydrated, first off. I was naive to think I could just go in and ask for IV fluids. They ran a bunch of bloodwork and also did a CT scan and within that, an iodine dye test to check and make sure I had no clotting or blockages. It took SO LONG to hear back what they thought. I do have alot
