A Year Out

by ggibson1038 on 04-05-2014 at 12:06 PM
Well here it is. This Tuesday and it will be 1 year since I have had my surgery. I can tell you that my life has changed immeasurably. I still have to watch what I eat, I still have to make sure that I exercise on a regular basis. No I have NOT reached my goal weight but I am happy as ever. I think this is important. You can have a weight in mind, but remember if you have this surgery, even if you only get 95% of the way, you are much better off than you were.

I still can't

At 6 Months

by ggibson1038 on 10-05-2013 at 11:17 AM
It seems a lifetime ago. I had my sleeve done on April 8, 2013. I have thus far lost a total of 122 pounds. I feel terrific, almost every aspect of my life is better and I never want to go back to my old ways. I will tell you that it takes work and perseverance to achieve it. I make sure I get to the gym to exercise most days and am in fact going after this post. I don't know what the future holds for me but I can tell you that I am happier than I have been in years and physically able to

Updated After Photo

by ggibson1038 on 08-04-2013 at 11:07 AM
Hey guys,

I figured it was time to update the after photo so feel free to take a look. I am excited because I was able to start running (well, jogging) again. It feels great to not have to go to the gym and head to the track at the local school instead.

100 Pounds

by ggibson1038 on 08-02-2013 at 06:50 AM
Today is a mile marker day. I reached a total of a little over 100 ounds lost since I started my journey. This has been nothing short of miraculous and my only regret so far is that I didn't so this sooner.

I feel absolutley incredible, I love to exercise and challenge myself constantly and am getting positive comments left and right. This journey has been truly amazing.

Vigilance Required

by ggibson1038 on 07-05-2013 at 11:39 AM
I felt like I needed to write this as a post for all those who are considering weight loss surgery. You hear many of the post op folks say on here that this is a tool, you have to lose the weight and do all the work. I wanted to comment on what my experience has been and what I have observed in others and tell you what that statement actually means from my perspective.

First, IF YOU APPROACH THE SURGERY AS A CURE, YOU WILL FAIL. I have already seen it in friends and others who
