Looks like you are having your surgery done 9 days before me! I am so excited, its all I can think about! I am going with a friend & her husband is coming along to keep an eye on us (lol). Are you going with anyone or are you going solo? Either way I think we have picked the best surgeon & best option for me as the insurance company here won't approve it for me! They want my BMI to be 40 & I don't want to wait until then...I don't want to take a chance on having all the other problems that come with being so overweight. I chose MX because I can make the sacrifices I need to get me there! Good luck to you on your journey & please keep me posted on your experience~

i went by myself and you meet many people in your group going through the same thing and you all bond well, and Almanzas staff are very very attentive, you will not be alone, bored, or feel scared there. At least i didn't.

Most of us do so don't feel bad. It really is worth the sacrifice! =)
  9. Hi rylynn. I havent made a final decision on anyone yet doctor wise. I'm just going to a seminar on bariatric surgery and he just happens to be the doctor doing it. I really want and need this surgery done. Ive checked with my insurance and they absolutely do not cover any bariatric procedure so now I'm going to have to figure out another route.

Amandaplease please reconsider Dr. Ponce if he is the bariatric doctor from Chattnooga he has had some very bad review on him and his staff and he wants to charge them so called administrative fees and that is illegal

Thanks for the message. I do have some regrets about having it done. I am a food addict, and definitely an emotional/stress eater. I also have Multiple Sclerosis, which made/makes it difficult to do rigorous exercise. I used that as an excuse and just kept eating whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted. Obviously that's not a healthy way to live, and I got up to 289lbs. My regret with the surgery is that I wish I had exhausted every possible option before doing such a drastic, permanent thing. I was blinded by the appeal of quick and "easy" weight loss. I will never be able to eat the way I used to, and enjoy food the way I used to. **This has to be a total, permanent lifestyle change...NOT a diet.** If food isn't really an issue for you, then you'll probably be just fine and do great!
I'm not trying to be overly negative, so I apologize if it sounds that way. I wish someone that had my same love for food had told me these things before I did mine. I would have viewed it as a last resort rather than an easy fix. So whatever your situation is, and however you got to be unhappy with your body, I would caution you to try any and all other options first. But if getting a sleeve is the right thing, then great! Once I can retrain my brain to view food differently, I think I will be happier that I did it. And losing 33lbs in about a month is fun too!
Let me know how the conference goes, and for sure let me know if I can help you in any way!
