  1. Good to hear from you - hope all is still going well and you're enjoying your new sleeved life !
It was great meeting up with Niamh and finding out about her journey face to face. What a lovely, inormative person she is ! Im doing well - still trying to shift 15KG before I can be re-done ! So far so good and things are moving in the right direction which is a relief after a very slow start. This week has had a few temptations, not least the chocolates and fizz hubby bought me for valentines day ... bless him !! ( Id have been happier with a bunch of tulips but I shouldnt complain eh !?) I've also had the urge to bake which Ive now decided was a very BAD idea .... home made cakes and biscuits have magical powers of persuasion and beg to be eaten - bizarre !! Still not had a drink since New Years Eve so I still have a pot of will power in reserve - He he !! All the best X

    Hi
How are things going with you? Niamh said you'd met up for lunch last weekend. How are you doing with the weighloss on your own? Have you got support from family etc.

I hope the fact that you've not posted an update today means that you had your surgery?! If so, hope all is going well for you for smooth post-op recovery. Keep us posted. x

I've been using myfitnesspal to try keep track of what I'm taking in most days first week it was 300-450 cals a day but this week managing a bit better 500-650. On one day I managed 1000 but had been out and had lots of milky drinks through the day. I can now manage a full cup!! If you have any questions feel free to ask, oh and get some sugar free jelly in, either in pots ready made or sachets to make up. It's very refreshing and a good way to get something down in first week! Best of luck. xx

You need to check with your GP about getting any regular meds in liquid form preferably before you go in to hospital. Not all meds can be ground down and not all capsules can be taken opened. The hospital should give you painkillers in liquid form or dispersible tablets, I had paracetamol liquid although 1g (normal 2 tablet dose) is 20mls!! And dispersible Tramadol which tastes disgusting. The antacid dissolves on your tongue and tastes ok. Folic acid is liquid but that's just twice a week anyway. I am also on ramipril for my blood pressure the capsules are opened and put in a spoon of yogurt. I found the petit filous fromage frais were a good size and now can manage a whole pot 50g lol.
As for soups butternut is one of my favourites. Have a look on Carol Bowen Ball's website. I bought both her books on bariatric cooking there are some nice recipes. Pea and mint and the red lentil are also favourites of mine. I experimented today with some brocolli in cheese sauce I bought from sainsburys, I cooked it in oven then blended it with vegetable stock and made brocolli cheese soup, Devine!! One portion was only 129 calories......

Good luck for next week! Hope the pre op is going well. I'm doing brilliantly, recovery all going to plan, just think I maybe over doing it a bit because I feel so well. It's difficult to take things easy! I'm loving my soups, have to stay on liquids for 1 month, soups, milky drinks, protein shakes and drinks. Best protein shakes I've found are the Syntrax Nectar ones, lots of flavours can mix with water or milk and can add fruit to make a smoothie. Brace yourself to feel like medicines are a meal for first few days! I found doing a tick list and spacing them throughout the day helped.

How's your pre-op going this time around? I have all digits crossed for you that there's no delay or probs this next time?

Hiya, sorry it's taken me a while to answer. I was trying to figure out my timings during festive season cause I'm working all the work days except bank holidays, and was waiting to find out when stepson and grandson are coming to us. As it turns out I'm constantly busy now until 7th January, so looks unlikely that we'd catch up before your surgery - unless it was after work one day? Where are you - maybe we could meet at a midpoint? I'm in Bedford.

Heya - hope you're feeling back on track, don't sweat the temporary upheaval to your eating.

Good for you, taking it in your stride. I hope they can confirm another surgery date reasonably soon, but at least you get one more Christmas to fully participate in gastronomically - not all bad. Enjoy that Christmas Pudding you mentioned!

Just editing this because I've now seen your post about surgery being cancelled. So so sorry to hear this news. The upside, as you say, is you can enjoy a big Christmas dinner! Hope they reschedule soon.

I cant tell you how refreshing my crunchy salad was this evening compared to the mushy pulp Ive had to endure on the puree phase ! Once more with feeling !

by mrs stig on 06-16-2015 at 07:03 AM
The last time I logged onto this site was a couple of years ago when I had come out from my op without my sleeve as my liver was to large to get to my stomach. Well now, Ive returned to this site with a happier tale .... a good few pounds lighter pre-op , 75% less stomach and 7 'bullet holes' to prove it ! Yes- I finally have my sleeve ! Im day 4 post op and if Im honest, not finding things as bad as I'd expected. My surgeon said I was one of his more 'challenging' cases and apparently had to manoeuvre
