    Hi there,
Yes, I was operated on yesterday and Im back home today without a sleeve ! To cut a long story short, my liver was too large and my super cautious surgeon didnt want to man handle it in case of a bleed. So I was stiched back up again ! Of course Im disappointed and a bit sore and battered but he says that it can still happen if i lose another 15kg. So, there's still hope but 'work in progress' as they say ! I'd still love to hear how you get on so I know what's coming ....eventually ! Hope all is still going well with you - Im looking forward to hearing all about it !
  5. I hope they manage to get you in on Monday! But if not Friday is only another 4 sleeps after, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you x

    HI viv,

Thanks so much for taking the trouble to send some advice - its invaluable !
I found out this morning that there is a 'backlog' of patients in ICU in my hospital that need surgery and its possible that I might be bumped out of my slot on Monday. Ive been given the choice of turning up on Monday morning at 7 am and taking my chances - the odds are 50:50 or simply turning up for the re-scheduled slot on Friday. So I thought Id take my chances. This is the third time the date has been changed now ! I must admit all the excitement has worn off and Im struggling to keep to my 1000 cal pre-op diet. However, I realise the 'whats the point, I cant be bothered' attitude that's been tapping me on the shoulder is why Im here in the first place and if I dont go ahead with this Im just going to pile on the weight. So..... here we go again at Theatre admissions on Monday !! Sorry to sound like a moaning minnie - that really not my style, but this is the fist time I've talked about how I feel after this mornings news. Thanks for being my sounding board !!

Thanks for getting back to me Viv. Im thrilled that you're doing so well !! Thanks for the advice on the protin shakes - I was wondering which ones to buy, its a bit of a mine feild out there ! Like you, I have to be on liquids with no 'substance' for a month. Im keen to make my own soups to give a variety of flavours . I was hoping to use all sorts of 'tasty' ingredients like sweet potato and red pepper or butternut squash and bacon but Im not sure if these would still be to fibrous ? Surely if anything is blitzed long enough it becomes liquid !!! Anyway ... its all part of a learning process ! Im interested in what you said about meds. I have a number of tablets that I take at the moment , all shovelled down in one handful each morning with a gulp of tea. It seems they will have to be ground down to a powder and mixed with water in stages after my op ! Happy Days !! Seems like it'll be a long process !

I'll let you know how it all goes when I come out the other side ! In the mean time, keep up the good work - sounds like you've got it sussed !

Hope all is going well with you after your op. Im being 'done' on Monday in the East Midlands so it would be good to hear how you have found it so far. How are you managing with your diet/liquids. I bet that smile in your photo is even bigger now ! All the best.

Glad all is going well. Looking forward to hearing more about your journey. Enjoy your jelly !!
  11. Thanks guys for your best wishes. It's 3.55am day 2 post op, I'm still in hospital and can't sleep. Struggling with fluids but jelly and yogurt going down beautifully. It's weird to be full after a couple of tiny spoons though. Hot drinks are so frustrating I'm having to sip slowly so first couple of sips are warm but then it's cold before I know it, cold tea is gross.
I'm going home today and am looking forward to my sleeved life!

Big day tomorrow

by Viv42 on 12-26-2012 at 03:00 PM
Well my bag is packed and I'm ready to go. Leaving at 6.15am tomorrow morning for the hospital. I'm excited but nervous. Trying not to think about things too much. Don't know how I'm going to sleep tonight.
Best wishes to all others going under the knife on the 27th.
Wish me luck guys

Date booked

by Viv42 on 12-09-2012 at 12:59 PM
I have now got confirmation of my date.....Thursday December 27th. I have to start my preop diet one week before, its a low calorie intake but not the liquid diet many seem to have to do on here. I am so excited, a little worried about Christmas Day on diet plan but have already convinced my mother not to have the snacky nibbles she usually get and to be a bit healthier this year. Biggest challenge will be not having Christmas pudding with Brandy sauce! I have to have fruit instead. Maybe I should

GP Visit

by Viv42 on 11-19-2012 at 12:19 PM
Been to see my GP today. She was happy to support me and is looking into getting my meds in liquid form, she was impressed with the information I had already got and my understanding of the pros and risks involved, a lot of which is down to 'you guys' on here for sharing all your info and personal journeys, so THANKS GUYS!!
Just need the info through from my renal consultant and I can book in, GP gave me copies of all my renal scan reports so that should help too. It all sees to be coming
