Hey! I am feeling great! 10 days post op, and I've already lost 14 lbs. My energy is back and my incisions barely hurt now. I've been off pain meds since 5 days post op, so I was a little slow at first. Dr. Raheb was awesome, he came to check on me a few times and he said everything was going great. I'm anxious to try soft foods this week, I'm definitely over protein shakes. Everyone is starting to notice my weightloss, so I'm feeling much more positive now. Like 3 days post op I definitely had an "oh crap" moment and kind of second guessing my decision, but I think that is pretty normal. If you have any questions, just let me know!

Yep, 2 full weeks of fluids for pre op, but you can have sf Popsicles, sf jello, broth and protein shakes. I was a little miserable, but now I'm doing the same diet for my 2 weeks post op, and it doesn't bother me at all. I will admit, I did cheat on my pre op diet, but nothing crazy and I still lost 13 lbs while on it. But the last few days before surgery I stuck to my diet.

Hey! I am doing awesome. 4 days post op today. I'm almost completely off pain meds, now they are only needed because I've been doing too much

My best advice is to get up and walking as soon as you are allowed (and as long as you aren't nauseous) because that helps with the gas pain. My incisions are a little sore, but the gas was the hardest part. I'm already down 4 lbs since my surgery, so it's definitely working!

Let me know if you need anything!

Friday will be 1 month out!

by azothjulie on 03-25-2013 at 12:28 PM
As of this morning I am down to 208lbs. Doing pretty well. I now have a pretty good handle on when to stop eating so I don't go over my limit which was a little hard to gauge at first and I think it had alot to do with my eyes were bigger than my stomach! lol
I was cleared at my 3 week post op visit to experiment with different foods and get back to eating rather than relying on the protein shakes etc..
So I have been doing that..I find there are alot of foods my stomach no longer

Protein and Peanut butter?

by azothjulie on 03-04-2013 at 12:55 PM
I am only on my 6th day post op but have found my stomach no longer likes the protein shake!! Has this happened to anyone else? My stomach objects when I take the first sip of it and I tried different flavors but it grumbles and tells me its a no go! I called my Doc and the nurse said I would try a bit of Peanut butter. 2 tbs has 7 grams of protein in it.. I cant really have that much but got down about 2 tsp and my stomach was much happier. I am also finding milk goes down pretty easy too

My journey Surgery Day (Feb 27th) to the present!

by azothjulie on 03-03-2013 at 10:32 AM
Good morning to all my friends here!! Today starts my 5th day post op! I will tell all about everything that happened and be honest so if you want to know...Here we go!!!
Wednesday I was slated to be at Portsmouth Naval Hosp at 9:15am. Did not take long at all before I was back getting my IV and talking to Dr. Rehab and the anesthesia doc. Once they put my pre surgery cocktail in my IV things got very relaxing and a bit fuzzy but I remember my husband kissing my forehead and saying he

Wednesday here I come!

by azothjulie on 02-25-2013 at 10:33 AM

An anxious, nervous and excited state of mind has set in for my surgery this Wednesday 2/27/2013.
I decided to write a blog to maybe be able to get away from some of the more negative posts on the forum.
I have done pretty well on the pre op diet only having some almonds and a small salad with turkey deli meat in it twice. I had to call my doctors office at day 6 since my headaches and all over shaky feeling was getting worse by the hour! So they told me
