  1. Hi John,

I really enjoyed your post (3 years out) You were such a big help when I went through my procedure. Now I'm considering having a tummy tuck. I wonder sometimes if it is out of the boredom that comes from not seeing my body change any more!! I am glad to be forewarned that it is a big deal. It is certainly a challenge keeping the weight off. At my thinnest, I was 168 and I've put on 12 pounds over the last 2 years. My calorie count should be under 1700 just to maintain. I work out between 6-7 days a week but compared to you I feel like a slacker. I've learned to enjoy yoga which was impossible before the sleeve. I love spinning and weight lifting. I also LOVE carbs.. I think you look awesome and I understand what it takes to maintain, or at least I think I do.

It is! We met up a few years ago when we went through Marietta. She's a doll! Feel free to add me on facebook too. Very best wishes on your new hip. Sure am glad you don't have to put all that old weight on a brand new hip. I am sure it would have been a lot harder. Take care!

It is a little late, but I just read your post about completing 2 marathons last year.
That is so excellent! You are a true inspiration.
    Congratulations!
I am sure this year will be a busy year for you.

Hey John, Congrats on the Marathon! I have survived round 2 of the skin removals. I am posting before and afters (Arms and Boobs) in the album on my page. Another amazing job by my Mexican plastic surgeon. removed a good 6-8 lbs of skin this time... so close to 20 lbs removed. I have 2 more surgeries to go (legs and butt/back) then done!! I have about another 20 on the legs and butt. Doc said before I started skin removals that I had 40-50 of pure skin on there, and he was pretty accurate so far! This was not as hard as the tummy tuck -- that wiped me out - then the infection. Well my husband caught an infection in the brewing stages last night, so he quick and got the tapes off, cleaned it up and i had some antibx and antibx cream from the last round, so in one day, it is already caught and done. I swear he inspects every inch of incision with a flashlight on his iphone. He saw it was a wet area under my arm pit (the most prone place). I was so happy. That is the worst part about going abroad. You are pretty much on your own when you return. But we were ready this time, and hopefully we have nipped it in the bud and all will just continue to go off without a hitch. I forgot about the swell hell, and have, I kid you not, 23lbs of fluid on me - but i know it goes away - same thing happened to me for the tummy procedure as well. Hoping you are doing well...from your posts/pics it sure looks like you are doing amazing! Best, Rhonda

Thanks so much for the message. Congrats on your full marathon. I did 4 half marathons this year. LOL! Don't think I will do that many in a year in the future. I gained a few pounds because of stress eating, trying to lose that.

Hiya..... Wait for it. I'm actually 63kgs and still losing quite slowly. I don't always eat right, sometime I have 2 glasses of wine instead of 1, but I'm now in the normal life stage. Doing lots of Pilates and yoga as I found this is my preferred style of exercise and find it muscle challenging. Loving my life. How are you? Still whipping butts on the tennis court? Your ability to do the high impact sports humbles me. In awe of that.

Hey!! So nice to hear from you!! And I'm glad to hear you are doing so well! We are all doing amazingly. We talk about how we have not regretted our choice to have the surgery for even a minute. I have lost 90lbs Garry 60lbs and Huguette 70lbs. Huguette is thinking about plastic surgery but wants to go to Mexico again. So expensive in canada. Was what you had done expensive in the US? It is around 15K here. Are you still running? Garry is. 10kms a day religiously. I don't know how he does it to be honest! It's amazing how many people around here have gotten surgery since we did. I know at least 4. It's interesting to see the different degrees of success peoples have. It seems that the people who have it done I. Mexico lose more weight. Not sure why. Maybe they take more of the stomach. Hope you had a wonderful summer and please keep in touch. The three of us love to hear from you.

Hey There! congrats on the 26+ miles! I am heading back down to TJ... arms and breast lift. Part II in 3 weeks! What a journey, but the time passes quickly, and it has all been so worth it. Hope you are enjoying the summer with your new stomach!! I sure am enjoying mine this year.
  11. Hey mr. I hope all is well; not much new here. My weight loss has slowed down, but I'm not pushing it or feeling bad about it as I would like my body to catch up a bit. I'm being careful but am in no hurry to get to my goal.

I don't know if I mentioned that I am semi retired, so I am always looking for a good deals and today I came across Keto-cote on sale thru living social for $18 however, if you go to the site via ebates.com you will get another 10% back. I am just about 1 coupon away from being on a coupon saving reality show :-) I find it hard to shop without coupons or points! If you go directly to Living social scroll thru until you get to Keto that is if you are still using it. Let me know how you are.

I look at the occasion post on the site but usually it's the same story; but I have gotten some useful food advice and recipes by checking in from time to time.

Hi John, wow your new pick looks amazing too. Are you ice skating? I too heard that Burgundy closed too. Sad b/c Cambridge could use any businesses. :-)

Glad to hear that. How long was it before you could resume life? Not the heavy duty stuff (exercise) but just get through the day doing regular stuff. Has your swelling gone away completely yet and do you still have discomfort with it?

Pic 29 Months Post Tummy Tuck & A Few Oldster's Thoughts

by bergamini on 03-22-2016 at 01:57 PM
I've been negligent in posting a recent tummy tuck pic. Here it is! I had my sleeve on 11/30/2012 and TT on 10/22/13. I had a very fast functional recovery. But oh the pinkness. I was pink for years! It is still lightly pink. I presume part of that is because I'm fair skinned. But it was a bit frustrating looking like I had been cut in half for a few years. I was a bit self-conscious. It is much improved now.

I've seen a lot of women who have had TT and a few of them have

Holy Cow - 3 Years!

by bergamini on 11-28-2015 at 11:44 PM
Monday will be my 3rd anniversary of being sleeved so I figured it was time to post to the blog. Hope you all are doing well!

Maintenance is a b*tch. No way around that. My first year of losing was easier than my first year of maintenance but this last year of maintenance has been hardest of all. The upside is that I'm at a relatively steady weight. I had gotten down to 165-168 for a few months after my tummy tuck, then got in the 170-175 range. This past year I got up to 178#

Thoughts 27 Months Out

by bergamini on 03-09-2015 at 12:37 PM
I've been meaning to post a blog entry but haven't in a while. So here we go.

I'm 27 months out now. I started at roughly 300# and dropped to as low as 165# before leveling off at 175#. I'm 5'11" so this is a good weight, and even if my face looked a bit gaunt I ultimately would have preferred 165# but it is what it is.

I eat more than I ever imagined I could. I eat really clean probably 4-5 days per week, have some naughty days on the others. I cannot pretend

A sleever runs a marathon! (26.2m)

by bergamini on 05-19-2014 at 10:34 AM
Sorry for my very infrequent blog posts, I've been busy as usual: new job, new digs and I have been training like crazy for my first full marathon (26.2 miles), which was this past weekend in Green Bay, WI (Lambeau Field).

I finished! I wanted to run 9:30 miles, but I ran closer to 9:50. I actually ran ~ the first 20 miles at 9:37 but then hit a wall around mile 22 through almost mile 25 which slowed my pace down a bit. I perked up then and ran the last 1.2 miles at about a 9:10

PS#8: 4 Months Post PS Op w/Pics and My Journey 15 Months Out

by bergamini on 03-04-2014 at 09:35 AM
It's been a while since I've blogged. I admit it. I am a tiny bit frustrated at some of the whining on here. I snapped at someone who basically felt like they were a failure because they "only" lost 5# in 7 days. I struggle with understanding people who are so despondent about a number on a scale when they are getting healthier and healing each and every day. I was SO terrified of a leak, or worse, during my post-op recovery that the weight loss was very much secondary. I just wanted
