Hey November sleever - how are you doing. What challenges have you been facing? Right now my weight seems to fall of in phases... I'll go a week and nothing, then drop a few pounds, then nothing again. As for food, the only thing I have found that doesn't settle well is flaky fish salmon, tuna etc. Had my first case of foamies last week... because I ate too fast.
  4. How nice of you to think of me! Things are going well! I've lost 27 pounds....was hoping for more rapid weight loss and am being more careful about what I'm eating and trying to get more exercise in. Have you ever tried myfitnesspal.com ? Great website to keep track of everything (especially protein)... How is it going for you?

    Hi Kerry,
How are you? I've been thinking of you since you had your surgery, hope everything is still going well for you now that you made it through the tempting holiday season. I wish you a happy and successful 2013!
  6. Hi Connie!
Yes, one more hour to go and I am outta here for two weeks! Yea! The sleeve has been great....unfortunately have found that Christmas goodies go down no problem....trying to resist!!! Have already hit a stall....wah! Have a very Merry Christmas yourself...!

Just wanted to check in and see how everything is going!!! I bet you are ready for that vacation time Have a Merry Christmas !!!
  8. Yes, I got your email....and i think I added you to the WLS group....not sure! Let me know if it isn't popping up for you on FB.

I uncovered my drain site the day after they removed the drain....he told me to just take showers and wash with regular soap. It's healing up nicely. (The one by my belly button is still very irritating though...) You're probably just fine uncovering it at this point.

Did you get my email at your MSN address? Also, how long am I supposed to keep the drain site covered? I forgot when they told me. I've done it for all 8 days now. They gave me bandages for 7 I think but I feel safer keeping it covered still.

I sent you an email/PM with my FB ID. I'd love to join some groups there to chat. I need it! Going back to work is fine but in hindsight, I would have taken the week of for mental and not physical reasons. It was hard to pay attention! My fluid intake abilities scare me -- I drank about 32 ounces of water within a half hour last night when I was thirsty after a walk. No pain, no discomfort. I guess that's good I was paranoid about that before. I am on MyFitnessPal (userID = jbergamini) and I love it too. I love that for once in my life I can control what I eat without an insane amount of willpower. So that makes me want to do it right (get my protein in, etc.). I've never had my life change more in one week! Thanks for checking in.
  11. Wow! Good for you! I need to get better at measureing my fluids and proteins. I just drink as much as I can and try to get at least two protein shakes in a day plus other more regular foods. (like today for lunch I had a little bit of tortilla soup (broth basically) with avocado and sour cream and some refried beans. Tonight I had some mashed potatoes and gravy...just a little bit! Time for a good ol' trusty protein shake....if I don't have one before bed I'll wake up in the middle of the night hungry! I am so impressed you've gone back to work...I am having issues with it because I have no energy....which is hard when you're teaching 170 middle schoolers a day! Have already lost about 17 pounds! Wow~! Yes....times are a changin'! Good to hear from you....keep up the good progress!

How's it going? I went back to work today because basically I'm so overwhelmed with all the changes, I just wanted some normalcy. I have good energy and got 70 ounces of fluid and like 75 grams of protein in. Clear fluids go down great, thicker stuff takes a while. Oh my goodness how our lives have changed. Hope all is well.

I am feeling pretty good today. I am switching over to the Marriott. I am starting to hate the drain, I just want it out. Hopefully just a few more hours, tops. Did you like your drain? It's so uncomfortable. I'm so glad to hear you are doing well and your energy is coming back up. They pulled my IV and so now I realize all hydration must come from me. I will be diligent! And the ear plugs were invaluable during the honking phases. Jeez, crazy drivers!

I lost 16lbs when i got home!! and the weakness could be from not getting enough food in...I also was weak and tires alot but it gets better!!! Yeah chicken broth doesnt sound good at all after the pre-op stuff...what i like is SF pudding and eggs, tuna and definatly the soups Yummy I got a juicer from my mom for fresh juice is hits the spot also...I have to try to find another multi vitamin that doesnt make me sick...heading to town tomorrow we will see...On another note...I was going through some clothes today after i got home from work and i put a pair of pants on and they just dropped to the floor !!!! they didnt really fit before surgery too I had to get my ring sized smaller because it flew off in Fred Meyer ...good thing i found it!!! I finally broke the first stall in my weight loss so i am off to the races again!!! another 4 lbs gone I am sooo excited to see how much i lose in 6 months

Safety pin, ear plugs, sweats and stick to the clear liquid pre-op. I got it! Thanks so much and hope your flight back was wonderful and that you enjoy the journey now that the risky party is over.

One week to go and question about follow up care...

by kerbing on 11-14-2012 at 09:52 PM
One week from tomorrow (yes, on Thanksgiving Day!) hubby and I are flying to San Diego and going to Tijuana for my sleeve surgery with Drs. Lopez and Osuna. Have started my protein shakes, have my vitamins and supplements, bought some GasX strips and a heating pad to take. WHOA! This is really going to happen! I'm a little worried about sticking to the preop diet.....but am doing my best.

Have been very impressed and thankful for the kind words and the support that many folks

sooo nervous

by kerbing on 11-13-2012 at 06:49 PM
As my surgery date gets closer (10 days) I am getting so nervous. I mean, this is irreversible! What if I feel terrible? I hope this doesn't sound silly but I've had the stomach flu this past weekend...not at all fun and I did not feel like eating a thing...(well...I couldn't eat a thing and lost 8 pounds in two days...yuck) and I am afraid that is what the sleeve will feel like. I didn't like not being hungry! (maybe just cuz I was so sick?) Also, for those of you have been the main chef in

stressed and grouchy!

by kerbing on 11-01-2012 at 07:30 PM
Okay....is it just me, or has anyone else found themselves stressed and grouchy the three weeks prior to surgery? OMG....my poor family and students. I just feel stressed....arranging the details for travel....getting a passport card....arranging for funds.....plus my normal full time job and family responsibilities....I'm just stressed! And that makes me grouchy! Plus I'm nervous which probably makes me more stressed and more grouchy!!!

Okay....I feel better now. Thanks for

Dreaming of the day....

by kerbing on 10-29-2012 at 10:42 PM
Dreaming of the day when I can walk without hurting. Dreaming of the day when I don't wake up in the middle of the night with a blaring headache from sleep apnea. Dreaming of the day when I am no longer pre diabetic.

Longing for the day when I don't have to shop in the Plus Size Department anymore! When I can wear shirts tucked into pants! Longing for the day when I can actually be somewhat fashionable! And do my own toenails without grunting and groaning!

Determined
