- I have been over weight my whole adult llife. Diets never worked, diet pills made me sick, and I was so depressed with how I looked, I rarely went out to bars with my friends. When I would go, I made sure that blended into the woodwork. Attention was not what I wanted. A year ago, I started to do research on weight loss surgery. With the help of a co worker who had the surgery a year ago, I started my journey. I want to live a long healthy life. I made this choice for myself and ony myself. My family is so supportive of my choice. I wish I had made the decision sooner. But better late then never.

I just ate a bunch of chocolate chip cookies because I am stressing over some thing I can't control.
I knew this wouldn't be a miracle cure....I have to find a way to channel my anxiety into something positive.....any suggestions out there?

So a year ago on October 16th, I was laying in hospital bed waiting to be the first person to go into the OR for the gastric sleeve. I was nervous, in tears, and about to have a full on panic attack.
My surgeon came over to me and rubbed my foot and told me everything was going to be ok. To just take a deep breath and relax.

We all know that protien is the key. It's been told to us over and over again by our surgeons, nutritionists and others who have gone through this surgery. But you don't know how important it is until you go through with the surgery. Even though it was told to me...I thought for sure I could have my protien, veg and starch at mealtime.
But......boy was I wrong! My tummy is smaller now....can't fit all that stuff in there. Even though what I eat is considerably less then what I ate

Officially down 90 lbs today. 90 lbs in 10 months. I couldn't be happier. It's been a long road and sometimes I really wondered if I did the right thing. But looking at that scale this morning I realized that if I could go back and do it all over again, I wouldn't change a thing. I am happy, healthy, and looking great!
