So great to hear from you!. Yeah, the notification system is rather week at best. I am so glad you are doing so well. I am 5 weeks post-op today. I feel very fortunate to have been able to tolerate foods so well. So many people seem to struggle with liquids and foods and I am grateful that has not been the case for me. I also feel as though I eat all day long which I don't enjoy but it is what it is. I would like to get to the three meals a day and one snack stage as I think I will feel more in control. I have been staying off of the scale but I can tell by my clothes I am losing. I have been taking in between 600 to 800 calories daily (which I feel is really high at 5 weeks, especially when I reach 800) Yet, all my choices are good ones and have high protein. Yesterday, I went over 800 but I think it was because of the Peanut butter. I will have to look at that a bit closer.

So tell me what vitamins you a re taking. Obviously, you said Calcium citrate but what else? I have been taking B12, Flintstones chewable and Biotin. Thanks, Heather

I'd really like to hear about your progress. What are you eating? I am so afraid to try anything of the lists as I am afraid of vomiting. Have been having acid problems but when I research this issue on the boards, it sounds really common. I just didn't want to be one of the lucky ones. Keep me posted!

Howdy, Things are going well. How about you?
I am 17 days post op and am just taking it day by day. Eating is going well. Lots of soft stuff. Not really creative but the amounts are so small , creativity is not a big deal. Keep me posted!

Thank you! Yeah I had looked at a few different ones too but really like the one you sent best. Just finished a quick list for shopping tomorrow.
Let me know how you are doing or if you just need to vent.

Well, I am back! Arrived home late last night. Thank you so much for the well wishes. Thing went very smoothly, except for a day of acid indigestion. Apparently the flavored gel that we were supposed to take 3 x daily until gone didn't work for me so off to Farmacia we went to grab some Prilosec. No issue since. So glad to hear that you got to enjoy dinner out with friends. I bet it feels so great to be "in control".

So I am starting week 2 and am wondering if your food recommendations are coming from anywhere else but from Dr. Perez's instruction sheet ( I find it rather simple, which is probably a good thing) but I am a rule follower and control freak and feel as though I should be following a much more regimented plan ( for now that is). I guess I am just looking for some wisdom. Old habits die hard, right?

Just read your post from 1-23. Its funny but I never got notified that it was posted so go ahead and disregard any thing you already answered. My husband and I are staying 3 extra days in Cancun to get some R&R. I guess I will need to purchase a few things since it doesn't sound like that what Dr. Perez supplies will be enough for the extended stay. Well, walking to and from for things I need will be good for me. Did you lose much on the pre-op?

Holy Crap!!! 30 pounds in 17 days, that is so insane!!!! You must be over the moon right about now!
Nervous? not quite yet. I think right now I feel more excited than anything. I start the pre-op diet tomorrow which is making me a bit anxious only because I am heading to Boston for a 5 day work conference. I have all the protein packed and ready to go but think I will get tons of questions as to my "new" eating habits. Maybe because I can eat a salad of some sort for Dinner, I can pull off the protein shakes during the rest of the day.

When you did the pre-op did you use milk or water for your protein? I'm not sure what to use and do not recall reading it either.

One more thing when you were in Cancun did you drink the water or use Ice? I love ice when I sip so I am just wondering about that.
Keep up the good work, I am so motivated by you and to actually see that it works is helpful. Keep me posted!
  10. Still doing well. 17 days out, down 30 lbs, just came in from a 4 mile walk.

I'm up to about 65-70 grams of protein. Right now, I'm keeping my ratio at 50/30/20. Protein/carbs/fat. It seems to be worki g. If it quits working, ill change it up.

Still not hungry. Definitely set a reminder on my phone to remind me to eat. It's crazy.

    Getting nervous?

Hello there. How are you doing?
  12. I am able to drink, i am getting about 40 ozs. of water per day, right now. (not including what I mix with protein - so it would be about 64). I normally drank - -32-49 oz pre-sleeve. Dr. Perez indicated he would like to see me build up to more but he always tells his patients to drink what they did pre-sleeve. I am getting a little over 60 g of protein per day. I get it through protein shakes, otherwise, I wouldn't be able to get it in. lol

You can drink the water and ice while in hospitals, restaurants and at the hotel (there is an ice maker in the refrigerator in your room). I bought a popsicle at te 'farmaceria' or OXXO. Much better flavors than what we have here. the doc supplied me with 2 gatorades, and 2 fruit juice (v-8 splash) and medicines.

Honestly, I do the best I can, and I am sure it will only get better.

I am so glad to hear how well you are doing. It must feel great.
No desire to eat? I hope that I feel this way too. I can't even imagine it!! Are you able to drink and get your protein in? I bet you are just doing the best that you can, which is how I am going to approach it. I start the preop diet on Monday. This is really happening!!!!!
25 lbs...holy cow that is amazing.

When u were in Cancun did you drink the water? Ice? Did you buy Popsicles? What did the doc supply you with, if anything

Yeah, I'm good. Is it weird to be looking forward to it? I have to admit on occasion I think to myself, I will never get to chow down on this or drink that. Then I think, haven't you had enoughofthat in your life already? I have been practicing eating tiny bites and chewing 25 times which I find strange. Probably because I am used to huge bites and hardly chewing (my dog does this too) hmmmm...

How are things for you? How are you feeling? How is the weight loss going? Any regrets? Surprises? Any details you can share with me would be awesome. Another thing I have read is that before surgery we imagine or visualize how things will be after surgery but then people are surprised that their ideas were totally skewed. Has this been the case for you?

Thank you so much for thinking of me, it means so much.
