  1. So, it's August 14 and time for another update. I just replaced most of my dress clothes. Went from XXXL to XL, from 46 to a 36 waist. Still feeling great and am still running. For those that would like become more healthy here is a program that I followed. (Couch to 5K | Marathon Makeover, LLCMarathon Makeover, LLC)

As I said before no running in 20 years and last weekend did 15 miles of intervals. Running and walking.

    Good luck!!
  2. I thought I'd share an update with you all. I call this update...
"If I could do it, so can you!"
Since Feb, I haven't lost much weight. So based on that measure, I should feel bad about it, beat myself up and give up all hope of losing more weight. The truth is that I feel not good but FANTASTIC!!. Why is that? Thanks for asking. Since Feb I have been training to do a 1/2 marathon in Nov. The training has been going to well that I am going to switch to doing a full marathon instead! My weight isn't going down because I have traded around 15 lbs of fat for muscles. I am getting leaner and leaner.
When I said "If I could do it, you can to." I really wasn't exaggerating. I never did much running even in college and high school. A mile or two at the most. This training for the marathon started with 10 weeks of WALKING. The training has been so good that I have had no injuring and maxed out the long run Saturdays. Which translated into English means I have run over 9 miles each of the last 3 Saturdays.
Could you go out tomorrow and do this? Not likely but the great news is that sleeve or no sleeve you can get to this eventually. (Ask you doc when you can do stuff). So get out and walk!!

    Good luck!!
  3. Thanks so much
  4. Hello GoLizzyGo. Thanks for the nice words
The facility looks just like the pictures. It's very clean and cleaned everyday. Everything is included in her price. Your guests would pay for the night or 2 that you normally stay at the clinic but it's not very much at all. By the way, she has doctors full time day and night. The hotel is in the tower next to the tower where the clinic is located at. If you guest wants to there is a pool there too. The restaurant in the lobby between the towers (on the main floor) is used to us as guests and will accommodate any meals you require.
I am happy to share my experience on this journey.

Oh my goodness, George, you look so amazing. Congratulations! It's incredible the results you've had so far. I am new to these forums and also, I'm in the researching phase for having a gastric sleeve surgery. I noticed that your surgeon was Dr. Pompa. I would like to ask you some questions about your experience with her, like what was the facility like? from the photos, it looks amazing! Also, the hotel accomodations, how much she charges, was everything included in the price quote, etc. If you have the time, please respond I wish you great success and hope to chat with you again! I'm thrilled for you and your results so far, wow!

  12. Things that are different since my surgery:
    1) My back pain is virtually gone
    2) I feel much more mobile and energetic
    3) My self esteem is 20 times higher
    4) I don't mind getting my picture taken
    5) I am wearing clothes that fit me better and make me look great
  13. Hello all and thanks for the well wishes. The surgery was a resounding success. What a great doctor and team! As is normal, I had lots of gas the first night some the second and all was gone by day 3. As of yesterday S+3, I felt almost 100% back to normal. The SOPs they have in place and as part of the progression from day to day is down to a science. The place is spotless and modern. I'm glad I spent the extra money to get it done with her. I'll share more after I am rested from the trip.

I found this Dr. Liza Maria Pompa Gonzalez hope that helps some. You should also create a group for Dr.Pompa then you can find other people who used her. I went to TJ but with Quinones I never even heard of Pompa until last month. Just read that if you get a chance.
  15. Hope all goes well for you.

New Goal: to run a 1/2 marathon in November

by BigGeorge on 03-05-2013 at 11:42 PM
Hello everyone,
It's been about 2 months where I have been going from light exercise and weights. Last week, I decided to join a program called Marathon Makeover. They take couch potatoes and turn them into marathon runners! I've never been a runner so this is going to be such a stretch goal for me! The program is 10 weeks of walking and cross training to prepare the body for running and jogging and is done slowly over 40 weeks. I thought of doing the P90X but am worried it's too much at

100 Days since surgery!

by BigGeorge on 01-18-2013 at 04:32 PM
It sure has been an incredible 100 days. I didn't think I would be this far along. Down to 250 lbs from 315 presurgery. Incredibly, I am 20 lbs from my initial goal of being around 230. My skinnier clothes are way loose. I am down to XL from XXXL shirts. All my presurgery clothes are useless to me. I get great compliments from those who haven't seen me in a while.

Woohoo!

I do not get hungry like before. That is something that doesn't seem to happen to all of us sleevers.
