About kcbird
- Sleeved or not sleeved:
- I have had a gastric sleeve.
- Biography:
- I am ready to change my life. I grew up tall and thin. I could eat anything and it would never stay. But after I was married, with each pregnancy I would gain 75 pounds. With the first two, when I was 20 and 23, I was able to lose the weight, with the help of fastin! But with the birth of my daughter at age 35 I never got down to prepregnancy weight. And it seems like with each passing year I was just heavier and heavier. So today I am 6'2 and weight 295. But that is about to change. T
There are so many reason to lose this weight that I have accumulated, but the biggest one revolves around my hobby job. You see I am an Emergency Medical Technician with the local ambulance service part time. I love it!! I have loved it for for 25+ years. But just recently I have discovered that I can't do my part to the extend that I want to. So I am scheduled for a gastric sleeve on November 6 with Dr. Cottam of Salt Lake City. I like this doctor really well. He took the time in my consultation appointment that I needed. I know this is going to be a great experience with a great group of professionals.
I am ready and I have set a goal for myself to have lost 100 pounds in 18 months. I can acheive this!! I KNOW I CAN!!

I just got on to answer a question from another member of the site....after I was finished I went to update my ticker. And to my amazement I realized something....I am just about 6 months post surgery and have lost 81 pounds. My weight loss goal is 116. I only have 35 pounds left until I reach my goal. I have been so fortunate in the sucess that I have had in the last six month, but I honestly hadn't realized that I was this close to my goal.
Six months ago if someone would

I an currently on the sixth day of a twelve day family trip.....I am so glad that I decided to have the sleeve in. November. If I hadn't done it then I know that I would not be having the trip that I am having. I was able to sit in the airplane seat comfortably. I was able to walk around NYC without getting tired. I an now enjoying walking around DC with the same results. Before the surgery, just walking short distances had me looking for somewhere to rest. I have now lost over 70 pounds...I

I am looking out the window to the last of the snow from yesterday's storm and I am hoping that spring is almost here!!
I am four months post-op and have started losing hair. For some reason I thought that if this was going to happen to me that it would happen much earlier..... Nope!! Kim at BMI in Salt Lake assures me that I am right on track....lol. Yes I am taking my vitamins and yes I am eating protein. But I have lost 65 pounds in the last four months. She says this is

I am 87 days since my surgery and have lost 56 pounds. I did so well throughout the holidays.....no craving, no hunger, it really wasn't hard for me at all. But about the middle of January I had lost 50 pounds.....and the weight loss stopped! I was eating what and how I am suppose to....and exercising. But there the scale sat at 250 pounds.
I will agree with most all the posts I have read up to this point about plateaus.....they tend to be very difficult to deal with when you
