  1. My weight loss seems soooo slow but just this morning, I finally reached ONDERLAND!!! I am so excited (95 pounds gone and only 19 pounds to my surgeon's goal). I haven't been that weight for at least 27 years! I personally want to lose another 50-60 pounds but even at this weight, I have lost 5 sizes. I am now doing an hour and 40 minutes of Zumba 3 times per week and 17 machines 2 times per week. I would do the sleeve again in a heartbeat; best decision I ever made!

Not only have you dropped 90 lbs I swear you dropped 10 years too! You look great!
  3. My daughter's wedding was October 26! I was able to climb stairs, walk several blocks when we couldn't find a parking spot, stick to my meal plan, dance with my husband and in general, enjoy the day! So thankful for the gastric sleeve and the results that I have had so far; still a long way to go but I am over half-way there!

You've done an awesome job! You look fantastic! Thank you for inspiring me that maybe I can actually do this and succeed. Wishing you the best of luck. Thank you for sharing your pics!
  5. I had to chuckle when I read my post about joining the gym and my fear of not being able to do the exercise. I began slowly and have worked my way up to Zumba Gold 3 times a week and am doing the treadmill and 12 other machines. I go 5 days a week and sometimes Saturday just because I want to...is that unbelievable or what? I have now lost 79 pounds and it has been slow with a lot of plateaus but I am feeling so much better and able to do a lot more than before. Best decision I ever made!

I originally went to see dr. iqbal but i didn't like him. It was rushed no one really answered my questions. I went to doctor K at Salem hospital. He is amazing so is his whole staff. Hoping for a surgery date in august. I got to zumba on main and sherman it's a smaller group of ladies and it's always a fun time. Good luck on the rest of your journey.

Thanks! Can use them for sure!
  8. I have been finding so many recipe ideas and other tips on this site that I started a gastric sleeve folder on my computer. I just copy the recipe and paste it into Word then save it for future reference. When I want to try something different, I go to my folder for ideas.

Yeah! now I can spy on you! Love you!
  10. Just took my first trip since being sleeved and found that it was difficult but possible. I had to be creative with protein bars and protein hot chocolate to tide me in between meals and a few times I went a lot longer than I should have before I was able to eat my meal. I took some of my containers filled with already prepared foods so that I could just pop them in the microwave when ready to eat. I also found it hard sometimes to get all of my water in but managed to do it. Also ate out in a restaurant for the first time since surgery and did well.

I guess the questions is do you feel good when you leave the gym, or just tired? If you're just tired, you're doing too much. Do only the amount that makes you feel good. Over time as your body gets used to it and/or fitter you will automagically tend to do more. You're brain and muscles will go, "doing 10 was easy...I'll do 2 more" and in a few months you'll totally transform yourself. That's great for you!

I'll have to try that. I know that Tofu takes on the flavors of whatever it's cooked with but it's a big leap for a Midwest girl to eat soy curds :-) I found out that not all foods go down the same. I tried rare prime rib and it hit like lead...and was sick for 2 days. I'm not going there for a few months...whew!

Oh I am going to have look into that. Protein chips. wow, now that will be interesting to taste. I am really getting nervous, I keep thinking I will never eat the foods I like, so I am eating everything. I just wish this was over with. Thanks for your support. It is much appreciated.

Let us know how your time at the gym went! Hopefully it won't be as bad as you were anticipating! You can achieve everything you want if you just don't give up! Every little bit helps. Exercising one day per week is loads better than none at all. So even if you still don't care for the gym, going just *once* a week will make you live longer and feel 10 times better than not going!

Ok. I'll stop preaching now. Be good!

How much do you eat?

by pianomom on 05-11-2013 at 06:23 AM
I am 4 1/2 months out from my surgery and I wonder if I am eating too much. I eat 3 meals and a snack each day and I usually go 4 - 5 hours between meals. I am focusing on protein and am on regular foods and drink 84 oz of water per day but I seem to be able to eat several ounces before I feel the restriction. I have been on a plateau for some time and can't seem to budge the scale. I am also going to the gym 5 days a week (Zumba Gold 3 days and machines 2 days).

I'm stuck!

by pianomom on 03-30-2013 at 07:09 AM
I just can't seem to get the scale to move no matter what I try! I am getting in my water (84 oz per day), protein, exercising 5 days per week at the gym. I'm not gaining but I'm not losing either. I'm starting to wonder if I have lost all that I am going to lose. I am eating 4-5 oz for a meal, (3 meals & 1 snack per day according to my surgeon's instructions). I've tried adding a protein shake or a protein bar just to make sure I am getting enough protein. Getting very frustrated! On

Pizza

by pianomom on 03-02-2013 at 10:19 AM
I tried a "recipe" that someone mentioned on one of their posts and it actually worked! I have to admit I was skeptical! You line a pie plate or cookie sheet with parchment paper. Pile fat-free mozzarella cheese on it, top with turkey pepperoni, turkey sausage, and pizza sauce (there is one that I like called Pizza Squeeze and it is in a bottle like catsup). Top with more mozzarella cheese and bake at 375 for about 20 minutes till sauce is bubbly and cheese is brown. The bottom cheese

Sore Side

by pianomom on 02-24-2013 at 02:20 PM
I am 8 weeks out and for a while I have been having some tenderness on my left side about 1/2 way up. My drain was on that side so I am thinking that must be the side they did a lot of work on. Has anyone else had this? I also started doing a walking tape and am wondering if the exercise could be doing it? Is it possible to hurt my "insides" this far out if I am only doing a 1 mile walking tape?

The Gym

by pianomom on 02-21-2013 at 07:11 AM
Today is my first appointment with my trainer at the dreaded gym. I have been stalled for a while now so am hoping the added exercise will help but I have never exercised, even when I was younger. Now, I am 64 and scared to death of going to the gym; afraid I won't be able to do what they ask me to do. I definitely need something to jolt me out of this stall, though.
