Hi Fawn - I was reading another post you put up (somebody in MN - I lived in Ramsey for almost a year, moved a couple years ago) and saw that you have Crohn's and had this surgery. I have Crohn's too, and was really happy when I found that they do the sleeve surgery and for Crohn's patients it works. I am just 10 days out from surgery and have not had any problems so far. Have you had any issues since surgery? I know pre-surgery I was pretty restricted to protein diet because of the adverse effects of veggies/fruits/grains/dairy. But I did do something about a month before surgery, I stopped taking fish oil and it was like my crohn's subsided and I could eat the forbiden foods in moderation with no problems.

I wish there was more online for other Crohn's patients to hear what our results are after this surgery.

Hi, I found the meetings are the 2nd and 4th Wed each month. I actually went last night after I found it. I needed to go, it helped calm my nerves a bit!

Hi! I too am getting nervous, but I think it's just the waiting that is making me nervous. I've been on liquid diet/high protein for just this past week. I start the clear liquid tomorrow. I know it will be tough!! LOL I am going this evening and purchasing many, many, many boxes of sugar free popcicles! I will feel like it's a treat every time I eat one. (Mind over matter!!) My doctor says I will stay 2 nights in the hospital. I will be off work for 3 weeks. It might be too long, but I have the time and figure I could use it to get used to my new tummy .... How about you? What is your dr. saying for the hospital stay? How long will you be off work? Prayers are being sent to you as well........We will have speedy recoveries!!!! x

Hiccups, Oh My!

by Readysetgo! on 11-28-2012 at 08:08 AM
Today is a wonderful day! Two months ago I had my re-birthday and joined the sleeved side of life. I hit a new number this morning that I haven't seen in over a decade. Now I have a lot more to lose than most, but I am on my way. 70 lbs down since 4 week liquid pre-op diet and 35 down since sleeved. Hasn't been easy, but nothing worth while in life is.
Last evening I had just finished my supper-scrambled eggs and diced ham, about 3 oz. I waited about an hour and was going to start sipping

Broke first stall!

by Readysetgo! on 10-26-2012 at 10:05 AM
Good morning, I had my first post op nut. appointment this morning, I was pleased to see my first stall that lasted a week broke and I lost 2 lbs. That being saidshe told me not to weigh, but once aweek. I also made the mistake of askingher about how many calories aday I should be shooting for. She freaked out,I thought it was a logical question, but apparently calorie counting and daily
weighing are bad habits that I have developed throughout my entire life. She
said to concentrate on

by Readysetgo! on 10-22-2012 at 02:52 PM
Good afternoon,Everyone. I have a question. I am three weeks ,three days out.
I am struggling to get my water in. I have been getting a least 48 oz a day the
last week. I have not come near my 65 gr.of protien. I usually get 46-50. What
are the recommended calorie totals. I have been getting 500-600 daily. I am not
hungrey at all. I was on liquids for 3 weeks pre op and clear liquids 2 weeks post op. I just finished first week of full liquids and one week left before

Tomorrow is the day!

by Readysetgo! on 09-27-2012 at 09:05 PM
I remember being so disappointed in February thinking six months was so long to
wait. Tomorrow is the big day. Spent a lot of time with my teenage boys the last
two days. I am a little nervous. Wondering what if somethng goes wrong. I have
followed the instructions. I found my Gas- strips, and a safety pin. I worry about
the pain. I know this is the right thing to do just pre-surgery jitters. I will post when I get home.
