I just had my surgery on Monday. I'm really happy I went through The Davis Clinic; they really know what they're doing. I wasn't nervous at all the day of surgery because I felt like I was in good hands.
  3. Alright - first diabteic appointment yesterday since surgery 6 weeks ago - A1C down to 5.7 - Blood sugar down to 88 and BP perfect - ALL WITHOUT ANY MEDS SINCE THE SURGERY! Better numbers than I ever had with meds prior to surgery.

If anyone is considering the sleeve and are diabetic type II - I think my results should be encouraging for you.
  4. Day 9 - Feeling great - back at work part time, and feeling energetic. - Did a 1/2 mile on treadmill today - Slow pace, but a start. - Trying not to weigh myself everyday!
Just realized, I have not been on any meds whatsoever since the surgery (Diabetes Type II and BP) - Think this sleeve is going to be coming my BFF

  6. Got home yesterday - missing that morphine drip - struggling to take in enough fluids today - hoping it gets better than this ....

  9. Thanks! Had the surgery yesterday - slept most of the day and night - now sat up in chair - I was extremely anxious but it really wasn't that bad. Wanted to post from hospital. A little dozed on morphine right now .... Will update when I get home tomorrow hopefully.

  13. Can any sleeved friends tell me how long they took off work? I have a desk job so can handle a little discomfort at work if need be. When I asked the surgeon, he was vague and basically said when I felt well enough. Can some of you share you experiences and how long you stayed off? I know it varies per person, but will love to hear how it went for sleevers on this forum ..
  14. Thank you all - I'm afraid my surgery was moved back 12 days as I had a slight cold and the surgeon didn't want to operate while I was sniffling

6 months post-op - ONEDERLAND!!

by Gemini on 04-14-2013 at 11:31 PM
Onederland

However, I am losing muscle mass in my arms (pretty noticeable) - Any advice? I have just started some arm strength training (up to now I have focused on cardio...)

6 months later, - 56lbs gone forever - everyone tells me how well I look and how much younger - And my clothes size no longer have an X in them

For all of the uncertainty, worry and adjustments, it is ENTIRELY worth it and truly life changing - I wish I had done this 20 years

Diabetes No More

by Gemini on 03-23-2013 at 11:41 AM
So I wanted to encourage those who were thinking of the surgery as a way to aid with Diabetes type 2.

3 years ago I was diagnosed with type 2 - Lifestyle was horrible, ate all the wrong things, didn’t exercise and was morbidly obese.... My A1C was 9.4 and my blood sugar was in the 200's

I had the surgery almost 6 months ago - I have dropped about 60lbs - Had a regular diabetic appointment last week - My A1C is 5.4, my blood sugar is high 90's and my BP is perfect -

First Flight - Seatbelt Differences

by Gemini on 11-10-2012 at 07:15 PM
So 4 weeks post-surgery and 20lbs later, I took my first flight since my surgery and was amazed to find that my seatbelt wasn’t tight! - Normally I sit and struggle with a tight seatbelt, and am too embarrassed to ask for the extender - Not any more - I actually had a little slack that I had to tighten up! - I thought this was maybe just an airline that had generous sized seatbelts, but I flew home with a different airline and it was exactly the same! - Loving the immediate effect of the sleeve

Post Op Blues, or maybe just the norm?

by Gemini on 10-11-2012 at 04:37 PM
So, if somebody tells me the items below are all to be expected, I will feel better (but only the truth please!) - Here we go:
1) Pain under the ribcage and in upper stomach area everytime I drink water - I am told it is gas and it goes eventually? If this continues I am going to call BP or Conoco and see if they want to drill.
2) Painkillers causing vivid nightmares, - (here is the tamest) On night two post op, I dreamed that I woke up in the middle of the night hungry, and went and
