I'd just like to thank you for your "why not to drink during a meal" post with the video. I am considering a gastric sleeve and this is a great wake up call to always remember that drink is a no-no

Hi I am back from surgery and feeling pretty good. I took a few extra days in TJ ( mostly just because it was way cheaper to fly on wed. even though I could have gone home on monday. I walked all over the place! I have been home since wed night and feeling pretty good. I am down 20 since the very start of this adventure. I am a little worried that I might have stretched my sleeve on friday. I was trying to get in the required protein in the shake form and the other fluids, ... I think I went too fast and did not realize that the pressure in my sternum was that I was full, i thought it was heart burn. ( at least that is what i am guessing now that it is over and I have slowed down) anyway, I have heard a lot of people say that they can "finally" eat a yogurt cup ... well I can definately eat a yogurt cup full as of today without feeling over full. What was your experience with this if you don;t mind sharing. How are you doing ? My friends from Sherwood Park were down here for a visit the weekend before I left, but I will let you know when I head up there. Trish

Yes, I think we all have our personal things that make us feel "safe". I chose OCC and Dr. Ortiz because they were so good on the phone and because of the credentials his hospital has.
Because the flights were so much cheaper to fly on WEd. I decided to go for the whole week, so if you have suggestions of shopping or anything that is worth going to see I am all ears. I have not had any extra time off in a few years, so I am taking advantage of being away for a few extra days at basically no extra cost, because the difference in flight costs is the same as the hotel room cost. I am staying at the Marriotte in TJ, which is where they have us stay with the OCC
I would love to get together some time ! I will be coming up to Sherwood Park sometime in Feb or March so I will definitely drop you a line before I come up your way and see if it works out to meet somewhere. I live in Water Valley, which is west of Cartairs and north of Cochrane.I told my husband last spring that I was thinking about it and then did not mention it again until I was ready to book this year, he probably figured I had dropped the idea, but I had been thinking about it all that time. It is a big decision. I have only told my very best girl friend because I knew she would not judge me, and will decide later who gets to know )

Thank you for getting back to me, sounds like you are busy girl too.

Hello Truffles: I am new to this site ... in fact this is my first interaction after joining . I picked you just because I saw one of your posts and noticed that you were from Alberta.... me too. I am pretty sold on gastric sleeve surgery at this time and am ready to dive in. Just unsure of how to pick a surgeon. How did you decide? Since Dr Almanza is one of the less expensive - it is very appealing, but that also makes me nervous. Since I will obviously paying for this out of pocket and I work hard to make a living - I don't want to be a victim... so just doing some due diligence. I think that you must have had some reservations as well, how did you come to decision? Any info you could give me would be most helpful and I would really appreciate it. Thankyou, Trish (mighty1960)

Hi. I want to say that you have had great success with the sleeve. That is why I would respect your opinion. I am going to be hopefully having my surgery the end of March 2014. I am currently 100 lbs heavier than I was when I got married 30 years ago. I know this is the right thing for me, but, I guess I need some reassurance that the recovery is not all that horrible. I have had 2 C-sections so I have had surgery before and know all about gas pains. What is time period after surgery that you feel somewhat normal again? I have to return to work and was thinking I could work from home for a couple of weeks. Is that enough time? I appreciate any advice you can provide to calm my nerves. Thank you

I have some question please. How many stitches did he use for each incision ? I have read wear a lot of people said they had many holes that took a long time to head because he does it fast, about 3 stitches per cut. And how many people did he do the day you got your surgery?
  12. Well, actually, I DIDN'T know that forums were public. I guess if I was as computer savvy as everyone else seems to be, I wouldn't have been surprised. My bad!
