I am a patient of Dr Lufti's too, and will be reading your previous posts and anything else that you want to share about your experiences.
  3. Glynis - this exchange proves that these forums are in fact very very useful. your answers were exactly what i needed! bec honestly, i've felt quite alone in this process with a unengaged nutritionist, not sure what to eat, how much, how often, what does full mean (a foreign concept from 40 years of shutting off that sensor) - and now reading your sample day, i see what i was doing that was hindering me. you really eat very clean and light and i suspect still feel full. i've been eating too many protein bars (i can eat 2 or more in a day in small bites which can total whopping calories) and no veggies and not eating regularly like a normal person should i say! i travel alot for work and with wine, nuts and cheeses, you can see that it would be easy to stall. but im super energized today to begin anew! Words fail me in thanking you for the detail in your replies!! it takes a village... xoxo
  4. ok Determined1 - you are inspiring me! bec we did the surgery at the same time and you were able to lose so much wow, how wonderful and liberated you must feel!! ENJOY!
You are right - i avoided weighing in every day, getting too comfortable with relying on what to eat and not and i guess scared that i wouldnt lose weight so i avoided looking at it -- truthfully, my caloric intake was simply too high. i was grazing which i know now is the deadly sin! i too weighed 237 or so when i began and now want to do a big push. can i ask you what your average caloric intake is that has allowed you to lose so much? 600/800? it at times feels like very little food though i guess im not really hungry, just wanting to nosh and eat nuts/cheese and fatty stuff that has kept me flat for a good 2 months ( Got any words of wisdom for me? thanks a ton - i awoke quite re-energized! xoxo
  5. Hi Zelannie,
I'm doing very well. I love the sleeve as it always lets you know what you can and cannot eat as well as how much you consume. I've now lost 81 pounds and I certainly feel better. At 239 pounds, I would get out of breath after walking more than two blocks. Wouldn't dare try to trek up a flight of stairs and I would always sweat profusely after any activity. I now know the likes and dislikes of my sleeve which are very beneficial to me. I can't eat bread nor anything that is very sugary. If I eat bread it feels like a lump under my breast area; if I eat anything sugary it cramps my stomach so bad that I am just miserable. The sleeve has forced me into a lifestyle that I've always wanted to lead - healthy! I don't always exercise and if I did regularly - I'd probably have lost alot more but now I weigh 158 pounds and only have 13 more pounds to my desired goal weight! I keep the momemtum by weighing myself everyday and while I have endured a few stalls, they never last longer than a week. I also stop to look at myself in mirrors, or big windows just to show myself how far I've come. It's amazes me how I had gained so much weight!
