So you didn't see your husband the entire day of surgery??? I've asked these guys specificially if my aunt was going to be able to sit with me before surgery and they are telling me yes. I sure hope that's not the case, she's not that excited about going in the first place let alone me leaving her by herself all day. That kinda stinks. What time was your surgery? and if you don't mind me asking what was your bmi? I was told today thats how they determine the "order" in which people go in. Do you think they kept making you switch beds just to get you up and moving???
  2. Jerusalem Hospital is very small and there were a lot of us having surgery that day. The dr was in surgery all morning and our group of 9 didn't start until noon. I was next to last in the group. I felt like we were being herded in and out like cattle. In recovery, they let my husband come in for less than 5 minutes then took him to the hotel. They kept making me get up and change beds which I thought was odd. At 11:30 pm I finally went to my last bed. I was in a lot of pain. I rang my buzzer on the wall. The young man came in promptly but didn't do anything for me. He kept telling us to go to sleep. Finally at 4:30 am after crying all night he gave me something in my iv and a shot in the butt. I slept for 1 hour before he came in and woke me up to tell me "get dressed, its time to go". Once I got to the hotel, I was so relieved to see my husband again. If you bring someone with you, you will not see them before the surgery either. There is no room for everyone so they separate the patients and guests. Expect a lot of pain the first 3 or 4 days because you can't take anything orally. You will be relying on them for your meds through your iv. They shuttle you back and forth daily from the hotel or recovery house. Make sure you ask when they pick up next. I almost missed a trip because nobody told me. I do not regret having the surgery but the level of care and compassion is very different than in the U.S. I would be happy to answer any questions you may have.

I read in a recent post that you are still undetermined about Jeruselem hospital. May I ask why? I'm having my surgery there on Friday.

Is this a long plateau or am I done losing???

by Shannybee on 11-21-2012 at 01:39 AM
My surgery was June 16, 2012. I have lost 65 lbs and I am extremely grateful. I need to lose another 30 lbs. I haven't lost any weight in 5 weeks. I am very discouraged. Now that I am able to eat anything, I find that I do just that! My old ways are coming back and I can't seem to break the mental habit. Is anyone else out there experiencing this? The holidays are making it even more difficult. Help!!!

Fear of failure

by Shannybee on 07-23-2012 at 02:26 PM
I am almost six weeks post op and feeling normal again. I still seem to have trouble trying new foods. The pureed food seems to be the only thing that agrees with me. Dry foods (tuna, eggs, chicken) feel like the get stuck. I have been feeling hungry which I thought was supposed to go away after surgery. I fear that if I'm hungry I will mess up and overeat. Are any of you feeling hungry??? I have lost 30 lbs so far but it is slowing down now. Any tips???
