Are you excited or nervous or both? I just feel excited right now....I'm sure as the date approaches I'll get nervous too!
  7. I'm so happy for you,Lee. And I'm sure your partner is proud of you. It's interesting that it has affected your sense of taste. I don't think it will bother me to go to restaurants when others eat. I'm looking forward to the adventure! Take care,my friend. Keep me updated.

    Cindy,
Thanks for the note. I am doing really great. I have to go up to Eugene today to see the surgeon for my first follow-up. I next go at 3 months, 6 months, 1 year and every year after for the rest of my life. Not bad for gaining my life back. I have so much energy that I haven't had in years. I can actually fit into a booth!!! I have gone to a restaurant with my partner and his grandparents. No problem when others are eating. I know this is futile, but please don't stress. I did at the very end before the surgery and I felt stupid afterwards. I only felt a little bad for 2 days and then every day got better. As far as the Premier Protein shakes, I personally prefer the chocolate, but they also have vanilla. I prefer the vanilla with a small banana and ice. By itself it is very sweet to me. That is one thing that did change, things are too sweet for me. I have relied on the Premier Protein until a few days ago when I started using the Chocolate Whey Protein. Both products I got at Costco.

    Cindy,
You are going to do great. I feel fantastic. I never had any gas pains to date, not even after surgery. I did get up and walk as much as I could. I was feeling a little crappy for 2 days and then every day was better and better. I had my surgery on Monday, June 24th and by the following Sunday I was off all pain meds and haven't needed any since. I am losing about 2 pounds a day. I use the Premier Protein shake for breakfast and lunch and small dinner. I like to use the Bullet and put ice and small banana in the shake. It is great. I just started intergrating the Whey powder shake. The chocolate tastes like malt to me. Much thicker than the premade shakes. I get 30 grams of protein and it is only 1 gram of sugar. I have been off all my diabetes meds since I came home from the hospital. I used to take 11 shots a day and 6 different pills. I now only take my metformin. I want to get rid of as many drugs as I can. You are going to be so happy with the surgery. Best thing you will ever do for yourself. Take care and I will write again. Lee

Hi Cindy. How are you doing today? Was so glad to hear from you. Have been speaking to people from all over the country, but not here in Oregon. Boy, Grants Pass, only 45 minutes away! This has been a really good experience overall. I love my surgeon and have complete faith in him. He has done thousands of these surgery's and actually has a lap band himself. I am on the clear liquid diet this weekend and the surgery prep. Thought it was going to be worse than it is. We are heading up to Eugene tomorrow to stay at the hotel. I have to check into the hospital at 5:30am on Monday. I will stay in touch and let you know how it is going. You are going to do great. As long as you want it, you can do it!!! Take care. Lee

The Sleeve Is The Best Thing I Ever Did For Myself

by SuzyQ951 on 06-23-2014 at 01:18 AM
It's been almost 10 months now since my surgery and I can't even begin to list all the positives that have occured in that short time. I've lost nearly 90 pounds. I'm walking 6-8 miles a day with Zumba 4-5 times a week. I feel great!! I've been able to stop some meds and cut down on others. I can buy regular clothes. I CAN WEAR REGULAR CLOTHES!!!! This week I officially went to a size 12. This times last year I was a 22. I eat regular food. Allow myself occasional treats. And I feel wonderful.

Feeling Great!

by SuzyQ951 on 05-04-2014 at 10:19 AM
It's been months since I posted but things are going great. I have lost a little over 80 pounds since last June. Some of my goals were to start exercising, buy clothes in the "regular" department and take part in the annual Pear Blossom Race. I need to set new goals because I've met those !!!! I've gone from a size 20-22 to a 14 that's starting to get loose. I do Zumba 4-5 times a week and use the weight machines twice a week. I did the 5K walk in the Pear Blossom. And I feel great.

Four Months Out!!

by SuzyQ951 on 12-12-2013 at 01:04 PM
My sleeve surgery was just over four months ago in August. My highest weight was in June at 233 pounds. I was so excited to step on the scale to see I'm nearing the 170s. I have hauled bags and bags of clothing to Goodwill. Even my shoes are getting too large! The weight loss is a little slower than I'd hoped but it's still going down. My biggest struggle is exercise. I can't seem to find time to fit it in. Other than walking a little everyday, I feel like a slug!
Yesterday a friend asked

Whoo-Hoo!!!! One-derland!!!

by SuzyQ951 on 09-10-2013 at 05:03 PM
Wow! What a great feeling! None of my clothes fit and when I stepped on the scale this morning? I'm under 200. That makes up for the "stall" I've been experiencing. But thanks to everyone on here for all the info! I was keepers for the traditional 3 week stall. No worries- I just kept on program. Changed my eating plan to have protein every 3 hours, tried to increase water and exercise and here we go!
One thing I have to mention- I had my one month check yesterday and they happened

Girl Interrupted!

by SuzyQ951 on 08-28-2013 at 09:21 AM
Three and a half weeks out from my sleeve! I haven't posted as frequently as I had planned. A little complication after surgery. My surgery went great! Some nausea and vomiting after kept me in hospital two days longer than planned. But that was my surgeon being cautious that I could maintain my fluid needs at home. He says the biggest worry he has about his patients is dehydration. So I stayed two days longer. Walked miles in the hospital halls. Literally!
No, my real complication came two
