  1. Well, today I hit my first goal of 50 lbs lost forever! I am so excited. It seems after 5 months, the weight loss has slowed down dramatically. Although I get frustrated at times, it is ok. At least the scale moves eventually. This week I really started focusing on getting in more protein (at least 75gm per day). When I went for a checkup last week, that is what the doctor said. Make sure to eat protein first (2-3 oz), then vegetables, then carbs if there is room (most times there is no room for carbs). Don't get me wrong, I eat carbs (yogurt has plenty), but at mealtime I have to focus on protein.

I had my bloodwork done prior to my doctor appt, and I am happy to report that all areas they check had decreased, meaning I am healthier. I'm doing fine with all my vitamin levels and I don't take my heartburn medicine any longer. I'm still hoping to get off my blood pressure medicine soon. Doc said everything was fine. I have discovered that I have to be careful of those slider foods (a bite here, a bite there), as they can be dangerous with all the calories.

So I am very happy these days. I feel so much better, and I am down 4-5 clothes sizes! I have 36 lbs to go and am confident my sleeve is the right tool to help me get there!

Blessings to all of us on this journey!

You're six days ahead of me! Congratulations! Hope you're doing well...I didn't have not one single dose of pain meds until yesterday afternoon when we were coming home. I took 1/2 dose of the liquid Lortab (yuck!) before the journey, just in case. I took the maximum dose of Children's Tylenol last night before going to bed, again, "just in case". But haven't had any problems. How about you??? Are you doing okay? Is your stinking mouth still dry??? Probably most of mine is because I'm a mouth breather, but...it's nasty! :-)

Let's stay in touch---I'm so glad I chose Dr. Kim! The information and support he gives you prior to the surgery is great. I could nearly tell the nurses what they were going to tell me! (And I probably could have if I wasn't so groggy from the knock-out juice I got during surgery! Ha!)

I've been sitting up almost 3-1/2 hours, so I think I should probably go let a little sleep take care of healing. Good luck! Praying for you!

7 Months Post-Op and Stalling!

by Happy Happy Happy! on 11-11-2013 at 10:42 PM
I haven't posted in a while. At my 6 month checkup, I had lost 50 lbs I think and I am still at that same weight. Now, I will say, that I can eat anything I want with no problems. I do get full pretty fast, but if I want it, I can eat it. I do focus on my protein and always get 60+ oz. of protein daily. I have had no problems whatsoever with my surgery and feel great. I have lost 51 lbs to date, but I'm starting to get frustrated because this stall is lasting a long time (a month so far).

Four Months Out - 46 lbs GONE!

by Happy Happy Happy! on 08-06-2013 at 08:12 PM
Well, I'm now four months out from my surgery, and I have lost 46 lbs as of this morning! I feel so much better these days, not that I haven't felt good. Just took a 5-day trip with my family and did great! The only thing (which was actually a good thing) was that when I did enjoy what I was eating, my sleeve kept me from overeating! No more overeating for me. Usually I just take my leftovers home for another meal!

I did notice a NSV while we were out of town. I love to play

Positive Scale Movements! Yippee

by Happy Happy Happy! on 07-08-2013 at 04:03 PM
Well, after being stuck for several days (week plus), last week I lost three pounds and this week so far one pound. It's so nice to see the scale moving again. I've been trying to change things up a bit with my eating and doing better on my daily protein. I really need to get my butt in gear and start exercising more than I am. I don't know why I find it so hard to motivate myself in that area.

So Week 14, lost 43 lbs and that's my halfway point! 43 lbs more to go!

Things are going well!

by Happy Happy Happy! on 07-05-2013 at 12:19 AM
Hi All,

Well I have been in several short/medium stalls. I went on a quick vacation with my boys last week and thought I would lose weight since I would be more active. But no ... same weight as when I left. However, that is a victory. I did not eat excessively and ate what I wanted, and I did not gain anything. After being home for three days, I have lost 2.5 lbs! So happy about that. So for those of you on this journey also, I am 13 weeks post-op and have lost 41.5 lbs.
