Hi! Congrats!! Yes his surgeries are laproscopic. And he does different kinds of surgery, not just the sleeve. His a great surgeon and I was super happy with my surgery and his bedside manner!
  2. Well that's a good sign if you are excited for him and you have already been through it! It would be convenient for you both to be eating the same way! My hubby is so understanding but loves his meat and potatoes dinners! He says (his doc said) he needs to lose 20-30 pounds.
What is this liquid diet I hear about? Did you have to do that? Does your hubby? That sounds tough!

Things should move fairly quickly for you after May 12th. The only reason why it took my husband almost two years is because he's enrolled in the Calgary Adult Bariatric Program and he had to go through their approval process for the surgery. His surgery is on April 16th! I think I'm more excited than he is!
  4. Hi
No I am in a holding pattern until appnt May 12th. It will by first appnt of any kind with Dr. Debru. Wondering how hernia and revision will play into the timeline of it all. A year or two seems like a long time to wait but I will if I have to I guess. That's great about hubbies surgery. How long did everything take for him?
    Have a great weekend!

How are you doing okgal50? Do you have a date yet? My hubby has his surgery date of April 16th - also with Dr. Debru. He's having the VSG done. Hope you are well!

Hi there...yes, I had a revision surgery from band to VSG with Dr Church at the Peter Lougheed. Had it done laparascopically and it was the easiest surgery ever for me. I hope it works out well for you!
  7. Thanks so much. So good to hear. I'm looking at having an old VBG surgery revised. It had to be open surgery 12 years ago. I never gained all the weight back but it sounds like same rules apply. Do you mind if I ask if you had the sleeve or band surgery? Was yours laparoscopic?
    Thanks

Hi there. Sorry for not getting back to you for awhile. Dr Debru is excellent and I could not think of a better dr than me. We got along quite well. My surgery went ok, had a few problems after surgery but everything worked out. I was in the hospital for two nights and released in the evening of the third day. My advice to you is sip, sip, sip. Drink as much as you can. Protein is very important and will continue to be forever after the surgery. If you can get your protein in and your water in every day, you are doing great. Sleeping was difficult and a lot of people on here suggest sleeping on a recliner. I didn't have that but I did use a ton of pillows to prop me up and then sleeping was ok. I am going through a touch time now with my weight loss but if I can give you any advice, always follow the program and you will do great. It is not magic pill, it takes work to get where you want to get. I ended up with severe acid reflux (GERD) which can be normal after surgery. I take meds for it everyday and its just something I have to deal with. Good luck! I am sure you will do fine!!!!!

To revision or not?

I really want this. My first attempt at wls was in 2002 with the old VBG and I lost 70 lbs which was life changing. I did gain back a lot back, but I don't feel like I failed it or it failed me. I learned to eat until I was full and I think that slowly just increased over the years. The idea that I could have another chance at this was news to me and just in time as I was battling the same 20 lbs up and down for the last four years and giving up! Here is my fear - I have a friend for example that
