Hi! Thanks for asking how I'm doing! I'm not sure if you saw my "Stupid Smoothie Mistake" forum post, but other than that I think I am doing well. I've lost 13 lbs and feel slightly stronger every day, but I still get tired and occasionally need naps. I think the biggest obstacle is still just adjusting to the small amount that I can eat now. I've learned a lifetime of eating fast, and I'm still working on slowing down so that I don't get too full too fast. How about you?? How are you doing and feeling??

Hi! I saw that you posted on Emma's wall and we've been chatting a bit since we have the same surgery date. Looks like you do, too! How are you feeling? I'm having the same gurgly feeling when I swallow most of the time. I wonder if that ever stops?

I have a weird gurgle when I drink anything also x I keep getting hiccups which are so so painful! X yea also sore, especially on the left hand side, under rib cage where they removed my stomach! Can hardly move with it, so dosing myself up on paracetamol! X on liquids now for 3 weeks and then puréed food after that x got plenty of protein drinks from the hospital to keep me going! X just wish the pain would go away soon x it's both getting any easier for me pain wise x

Hey, how are you doing today? Are you ready? I'm as ready as I will ever be, I'm more ready for tomorrow afternoon, being in a room and then going home Tuesday. Good luck, you will do great, I will keep you in my thoughts!

Good luck with your surgery. I was done June 11, stay in the hospital as long as you can, I stayed 3 days after surgery because I had severe nausea. Since being home I have relied on my protein shakes as I advance my diet. Having a hard time eating causes a heartburn like pain in the center of my chest. So I'm just sticking with puréed foods only, actually I think I may have progressed my diet too fast eating mushy foods instead of just puréed. So please follow your dr. Advice on progressing your diet.

Are you as much of a wreck as I am? I know it's only an hour but the anesthesia is something I hate and don't tolerate too well, BUT i don't tolerate being fat any longer either. Good luck to you too, let's keep in touch in the coming weeks!
  15. I start mine 14 days prior to surgery

3 weeks out - 800 calories?? Nutrition Questions

by InthelandofOZ on 07-14-2014 at 12:21 AM
I'll be 21 days out July 14th - I started pureed food today - that egg with cheese never tasted so good! :-) I didn't think I'd get tired of protein shakes but I have a couple that I just wanted to gag thinking about having to drink them again. The Premier Protein (chocolate) from Sam's is the only one I can choke down right down.

I have been shooting for 60-80 grams of protein per day - is that enough?

At my 10 day post op appointment my surgeon told me to shoot for

3 days post-op

by InthelandofOZ on 06-26-2014 at 10:21 PM
Well I did it!
I was sleeved on Monday - which was the worse day pain wise.
Like everyone has said - each day gets better with pain and swallowing.
When I take a drink it gurgles before it goes down - really weird feeling. But today it didn't 'hurt' during the gurgling.
This morning I did have some nausea which I hadn't experienced the last two days.
Yesterday and today I was able to get in 50 ounces of fluid in. Which I was pretty happy and surprised about.

Any last minute advice from veterans?

by InthelandofOZ on 06-22-2014 at 01:17 AM
My surgery is Monday. I'm excited but having a few jitters.
This invaluable site has been a wealth of information so I know that it will be rough for awhile.
But any advice and/or words of encouragement would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Day 7 Pre-op Update - Random Questions and Thoughts

by InthelandofOZ on 06-16-2014 at 12:44 PM
One week from today is my sleeve surgery!! I’m nervous and excited. Probably more nervous because it’s hard to be “excited” over something so surreal and hard to wrap your mind around…the fact that a year from now I’ll look like a normal person. Not a big ‘apple’ girl.

I was to do a 10 day pre-op diet (limited in options are allowed and it is low carb, low fat, low sugar and high protein and about 750-800 calories). I chose to make it 14 days – which is good because the first
