Well, I was sleeved n the 23rd and also had a hiatal hernia that needed fixing, all seemed to be going well until I couldn't keep anything down. So Thursday they went back in and had to bring the stomach down again, it kept flipping over and not letting anything through so they left me with an ng tube which came out quickly. Friday I was desperate for resolution, they took me back to surgery sewed my stomach to my omentum, another ng tube until Sunday. all seemed to be going well, they took the tube out and let me go home Monday. It was to say the least, one of the worst experiences of my life. I went to work today, worked about 6 hours and feel much better. I don't feel as negative about having it done. I think I honestly lost about 8 pounds and am sick to death of drinking chocolate. I had a 1/2 of a soft boiled egg last night which filled me up until this morning. (Doctor said soft foods since I'm so far out). All in all, today is a good day, and I'm glad I did it. Thanks for being here!

Well, I didn't sleep one minute last night and worked all day, and of course it's almost 10 and still can't sleep but I was able to eat, interesting that when you can eat you can't due to nerves and when you can't eat that's all you want to do. 2 more sleeps and I'm in. Nervous as hell, but really can't wait. A friend asked me today if I was excited while we were getting our pedi's and I really had to think, am I excited or ready, I think I'm ready, I'm really ready. I definitely don't think I will have any issues, it's 1 hour start to finish, then a room for 24 hours then home. I'm positive in that aspect, and don't care for pain meds so know I will be fine. Thanks for advice, and will definitely try to stay positive the next 48 hours and feel pretty confident I can do this, right???

Oh I'm fine, my surgery is Monday. Can't sleep, feeling anxious but that's nothing compared to what you've been through this week.

  14. Hi Imdee73- I wish you all the best in your new journey. You'll be so happy you made this choice. It will be tough road but a fulfulling one! You def. should go back to the BLR after your surgery. Loved it too. I heard such good things about the one out in Utah. One of the gals i met last week went there late last year and said it was great and the Niagra resort was different different in many ways. Both had pros and cons of course. Well, just wanted to say hello. This is a wonderful forum to help you thru this journey to health.

About lmdee73
Sleeved or not sleeved:
I have had a gastric sleeve.
Biography:
Long story short - Active, athletic teenager. Marriage, children and life happened. Raising a family, I put their needs above my own and ended up 100+ pounds overweight. I have a family history of diabetes, heart disease, and stroke. The fact that at 35 years old I was put on cholesterol meds and now, at 40, blood pressure meds, made me really start thinking about the future and what it means to my family if I continue down this destructive path. Through the advice of my doctor, I met with a bariatric surgeon and am well on my way to having the gastric sleeve surgery sometime over the summer.

Progress update for those interested

by lmdee73 on 07-22-2014 at 08:47 AM
I have dropped two sizes since I started down this road to healthy with my pre-op liquid diet on June 2, 2014. According to my scale, I'm a third of the way to the goal weight my dr decided on. I have no regrets about my decision to have surgery. It was THE best thing I've ever done for myself and I'm excited to see where this road will end!

In 7 weeks:
Total weight lost ~ 31.6#
Total inches lost ~ 19.75

1 Month Out

by lmdee73 on 07-08-2014 at 01:09 PM
Getting back into routine, I'm finding it harder to get on here as much, but wanted to check in. It's a special day.

It's been one month since my surgery! I am at my lowest weight in some years (three at least), my clothes are beginning to "feel" big, although I'm still wearing the same clothes as before, they're just not snug anymore. According to my dr, I am progressing nicely and am exactly where I should be one month post-op.

For a visual affect....I

Note to self....

by lmdee73 on 06-27-2014 at 10:43 PM
Slow down! Last night I had only my second little wave of nausea since surgery. This time I'm convinced it was due to eating a tad too fast. The nausea was short lived, but most definitely uncomfortable. That will not be a mistake that will be repeated!!!

All part of the learning curve. I love that I'm "hearing" when my body is trying to tell me something. Keeping your head free of garbage makes all the difference in the world.

2 Weeks Post Op

by lmdee73 on 06-25-2014 at 11:53 AM
Just a quick check-in. Not a lot to report, but I do think it's important that I update weekly on progress and how I'm feeling so I can have it to look back on going forward.

So...week 2...went back to work and that's going well, although I'm mentally drained by the time I get home. I know that it will take a few days to get back into a groove. This too shall pass.

Soft foods. YUM! Not much more I can say about that! I did try some unsweetened apple sauce yesterday.

More soft food "stuff"

by lmdee73 on 06-23-2014 at 12:53 PM
So...it's been one day since I started incorporating soft foods back into my day. Started out with 1/2 a poached egg yesterday morning, approx 1 1/2 spoonfuls of cottage cheese yesterday afternoon and actually had several small bites of tilapia and squash last night...probably my favorite of all the things I tried yesterday.

This morning I tried a hard boiled egg....again only 1/2 of it got eaten. I may try one scrambled in a few days and see if that makes a difference. Right now,
