Hi Marilyn, i just read your post on your thyroid problems & would like to offer my support. I had 2 of the 3 types of thyroid cancers, had both lobes removed and my parathyroids die in the process, I've had radiation 3treatments times for it as well as too many MRIs & Iodine uptake testing. Any advice or help I can offer is yours. Good luck Julia

Hey, girlfriend! Just checking in on you to see how you are doing. Hope all is well with you. I'm not "on" as much as I used to be, but drop by from time to time to check on old friends.

So nice to see you marilyn. Was wondering about you the other day - so lovely to see your name popping up on posts. Hope everything is going well for you?

Thanks, Marilyn. You are definitely a winner! Most of the time I feel like I work harder than a lot of WLS patients by being active and making sure I have a well-rounded diet. But you outwork me and I admire your dedication in spite of a buggy thyroid. We are both almost 100# down since the start of our process and no matter what happens, I see us both keeping that off (and more) and frankly that is going to have really amazing benefits to our health. Keep swimming!

I miss those good old days bad still. Just thinking about it i am shaking like I need a drug fix or something I remember being accused of being a lot lizard but never that kind of extreme lol. I was 21 when I started and I was all talk from day one Those stories are great. I still talk to about 15 of my driver buddies and I swear I get some strange looks from anyone with in ear shot but I usually end up laughing so hard I am crying I miss my drivers I wish I could get all of them in one room that would be a blast! I am glad you started this LOL

I love to talk "shop" lol that is cool you had a purple freight too it was technically my second truck (my first being a black Century super ten) but I count the purple one as my first because I only had the other for 2 weeks and the freightshaker had 12 miles on it when I got it Any time you want to reminisce let me know I miss those days and GOD i miss the drivers! I got all excited when I had 4 hours to kill at the TA in Denver because I got to BS with the drivers and the fact that I havent been back to a truck stop since the weight came off that was a fun day lol. I had 4 of them following me like lost puppys LOL. I always tell people you have to be a special kind of cracked to be a driver LOL.

Thank you so much! Its funny how truck stop food is geared to make you bigger and bigger isnt it. Like all the buffet stuff and like at the TA and Petro the meals were like two big pork chops plus about 3 servings of 2 sides. There were times I would think to myself ok this is A LOT of food but I would still eat 90% of it in one sitting. I am so glad those days are over (the food part I miss the road like a bad drug lol) That is awesome you and your daughter drove team it really was an amazing job

Thank you so much for your comment. Sorry it took me so long, I kept responding in the wrong place. I'm still figuring out these boards. My doctor said I could go back in the water after about a week but only walking, which is fine by me. I can't imagine doing laps and the pull on the midsection wouldn't feel too good.

Love reading your posts and following your journey on the forums!

I will remember your generousity! I did a contract there at QUEEN's Medical Center back in 1999-it wa expensive then, too. My friend from High School lives in KONA and has been bugging me to come and see her, so I hope it will be this year sometime.

Marilyn's weight loss journey, installment 6 !

by marilynlw on 12-05-2012 at 10:42 PM
Well it is 3 weeks post op and it has been an adventure learning to eat and drunk again. My doctor is one who advocates transitioning back to real food at a fairly rapid clip. I spent 2 nights in the hospital instead of just one. That was more do to the time my surgery was completed than any health issues on my part. He doesn't like to discharge until they have be observed at least 24 hours after surgery and it would have been late on Tuesday. When he told me he wanted me to stay until Wednesday

Marilyn's weight loss journey, installment 5 New beginnings!

by marilynlw on 11-24-2012 at 02:03 AM
This process getting sleeved had been a long and complicated ordeal. I went to the first informational meeting almost 3 years ago and was all excited to get my weight under control. Before I could get an appointment I had to get a referral from my PCP and authorization from my insurance company. After 2 months I finally realized that it would not be cover even though I had a BMI greater than 65. They just wouldn't cover any WLSs period. My hopes were shot down.

In June this year

Marilyn's weight loss journey, installment 4

by marilynlw on 11-07-2012 at 10:03 PM
I am in a happy place. Feeling at peace and secure in my future. I have had so many unhappy days and years in my past that I really can appreciate how good life really is today. I may not be rich in worldly things but I have so much to be thankful for. My home is modest but I have a calming view of the ocean. I only have one child but God blessed me with most wonderful daughter. We truly love and adore each other and she is my best friend. I have only on grandchild a 14 year old boy but believe

Marilyn's weight loss journey, installment 3

by marilynlw on 10-19-2012 at 12:40 AM
We were a happy family of 3 and Tom took to the role of fatherhood really well. Only one little bump and that was my daughter was used to sleeping with me. A habit I soon regretted. Tom at about 500 lbs, me at about 300 lbs plus my daughter just didn't fit real well in a full size bed. It took a little while but she got used to sleeping by herself as long as I stayed with her until she went to sleep. As for Tom and me our first purchase was a king size bed. Now the only thing I will say about

Marilyn's weight loss journey. instalment 2

by marilynlw on 10-14-2012 at 01:19 AM
Due to my very low self esteem I didn't love myself and didn't think I deserved to be loved and had some very bad relationships with men. I dated one in particular I remember who thought the world revolved around him and it was my job to make him happy, and being that I was fat I should be glad to do anything he asked just to be with him. So one day as I cooked his dinner and he was watching TV my daughter who was 4 at the time crawled onto his lap and asked. "Daddy will you read me this book".
