Did anybody have an issue with their primary doctor wanting to still care for you and monitor your progress because your surgery was out of the country?

Not at all. But I did see him in advance. I was his second patient who had bariatric surgery. The other patient had issues with getting enough nutrition, especially the B vitamins. So he's been careful to test me often for nutritional deficiencies.
I don't know if he was thrilled with me going to Mexico but I showed him my surgeon's credentials and he was satisfied. But my physician was not born in the US either (Syrian). I met with him the week before I went for "pre" testing and the week I returned for him to check my incisions. I've followed up with him about every 3 months the first year and now twice a year.
Couldn't be happier with my whole experience.
