    This is the post op diet I will be following, anyone else?

    Post-Operative Diet Stages​ :

    Stage 1: Clear Diet 5-7 days
    ● Clear diet begins post-operatively if there is no nausea or vomiting. ● You ​MUST​ sip ​VERY SMALL​ amounts of fluid ​ALL DAY​ . ● Goal for a day is a total of 64oz of clear liquid per day by sipping SMALL SIPS 4-8oz per hour. ● By the second or third day of the clear liquid diet start on a children’s chewable multi vitamin with Iron, chewable calcium and chewable B12 vitamin as tolerated. o Recommended Sugar Free Clear Liquids​ : ▪ Clear Broth/Bouillon: Chicken, beef, vegetable with protein powder. ▪ Sugar Free Crystal Light. ▪ Unsweetened caffeine free herbal tea. ▪ Jell-o. ▪ NO carbonated beverages.

    Stage 2: Full Liquid Diet 6-14 days
    ● Start high protein full liquid diet ● Recommended o All foods from previous stage. o Protein powder with clear liquid (water) --- if tolerated. o Natural Apple Sauce. o Skim Milk. o Sugar Free Pudding. o Sugar Free Crystal Light o Sugar Free Fruit Juices o Sugar Free Jell-o o Chicken Broth or Strained Chicken Noodle Soup ● Avoid all carbonated beverages (fills the stomach with gas), sugar (extra calories that fight against weight loss) and caffeine (makes you urinate more and can lead to dehydration). ● Drink two quarts (2,000cc) of liquids per day to prevent dehydration. Sport drink bottles with measurements on the side will help ensure you are drinking enough liquid. Remember, you will not be able to gulp liquids so you will want to drink small amounts throughout the day.

    Stage 3: Pureed Food
    ● Add only ONE food at a time. ● Goal for day is 48-64oz of fluid to prevent dehydration.
    ***THIS NEEDS TO BECOME A LIFELONG HABIT. *** ● VERY IMPORTANT:​ ​ STOP drinking 30 minutes prior to eating and DO NOT drink until 30 minutes after a meal. ● Chew ​completely ​ and ​slowly​ . ● Eat three meals a day and two snacks. ● Protein intake needs to be approximately 70-80g a day.

    Stage 4: Solid Food
    ● All foods from previous stages. ● Cheese with less than 5g of fat and 10oz size like laughing cow or a cheese stick. ● Dried Beans: kidney, lentil, split pea. ● Lean Meats: fish, tuna, chicken, turkey. Make sure all meats are moist. ● Non-fat cottage cheese ● Sugar free canned fruit ● Soft cooked vegetable ● Avoid fibrous vegetables. ● Avoid fruit with membrane. ● Avoid tough meat.

    Remember:
    ● Only add ​ONE​ new food at a time! ● Avoid starchy food like white rice, pasta, bread. ● Chew ​completely​ and ​slowly​ . ● Protein Supplements: 70-80g.
