Well after looking thru all the pages I finally found the NC one! Since no discussion has started I thought I would start one. Where in NC is everyone here from? I am from Winston-Salem area.
Did you have your surgery locally or somewhere else? I had mine in Winston at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center by a awesome Dr. Fernandez (Fuzz). Last but not least post how you are doing, if you have had your surgery yet and your progress.
I was sleeved on 3-6-12 have lost 46lbs to date included my 3 week preop. Never any problems with the surgery went very smooth not much pain little to no Gas everything has gone great.
Would love to hear from my Fellow North Carolinians so post away.

Hi Allmyjoy! Welcome to the forum and the group. Hard to believe this is a NC group when no one seems to talk much Good luck on your upcoming surgery. Are you having it done in Charlotte?

sorry for not responding sooner! My surgery was May 10, at Lake Norman Regional! I love it would do it all again. Preop weight was 233 today it is 202!!!! God is good!

I go to nutrionsit and for psyc eval tomorrow and then paper work goes to state BCBS for approval. I hope insurance will approve fast I'm ready to get this and change my life. Hi Everyone, I live near the VA border in Halifax County. I had my surgery on 6/25/12 at Rex Hospital, and my surgeon was Dr. Enochs at Bariatric Specialists of NC. Awesome surgeon, and I have had 0 complications!

Hi my name is Terry I had my sleeve done 3 days ago at western wake in Raleigh with dr Roy he is so good !!! I didn't have to be on a pre op diet and I didn't need the X-ray with contrast the day after surgery the worst part was that I couldn't have water for 24 hrs after surgery that was the worse thing for me other wise I feel great

I'm currently a patient of Dr McNatt at Baptist Hospital. I'm going to be a revision wls patient. I had Lapband in 2008 at Moses Cone under Dr Hardcastle at Central Carolina.....I am really happy about the change. I am getting unbanded on April 24th.

Hi Everyone my real name is Heather i am British i am an Artist and I bet none of you live near me? I live in the North western part in the mountains of N.C. near Robbinsville and Fontana village.
I so wish I lived near someone else who has had this done so we could meet up! I had my surgery a week ago on Monday 24 June all has gone very well. Still on my liquid diet looking forward to the soft food stage! I didn't realise there was a Carolina sleeves group until just now :-) Good luck all those who have not been sleeved and are on their journey.. I was scared nervous but I had faith in my surgeon from UT Medical center in Tennessee and all was good and here I am the other side ... Just now learning to keep track of every thing and it takes some doing I can tell you... I'm from Wilmington NC, that's New Hanover County, about 1 mile from the ocean..........the Awesome Dr. James Harris did my surgery on Dec 17, 2013. Since that time I've lost almost 60 lbs, and that includes my PreOp weight loss of 13#s. I've not had any problems, but maybe I have, I just assume that everything I'm going through is an adjustment period........I'm still working to get all my fluids in and get 1000 calories a day. My protein is not a problem I get a minimum of 75gs a day. I do still have gas when I eat, apparently I need to slow down and take smaller bites.........I chew chew chew and sip sip sip..........I'm not really hungry yet and don't really miss any foods. Actually I find eating a chore now...........like I have to remember, oh yeah, I need to eat. I'd rather do my protein shakes and stuff them full of veges, etc....Other than that, I've gone to our local support group a few times, but found it did not really address any on my concerns.......I find this group so much more supportive........anyhow..........Welcome to all of you North Carolinians.........I love our state!

I live in Apex and had my surgery at Rex on 3/10/14 with Dr. Bruce, who is awesome! I lost 35 lbs pre-op and am down 6 lbs since the surgery. So far, no complications, very little discomfort and I feel great.
