Just wondering if anyone has had to postpone their surgery because their levels' weren't "ideal".....?

My surgery was initially going to be in April but I had to have my surgery postponed because my thyroid levels were high. I have since met with an endocrinologist to better get my levels under control. I am on a very high dosage of Synthroid (250mg). She gave me suggestions on changing the way I take my meds, making sure that I take them on an empty stomach. I am not eating for an hour 1/2 after taking medicines to make sure that it is being completely absorbed. We are checking levels every six weeks. I just went for blood work on Monday and waiting to hear what the levels are. If they are with in an acceptable range, I can contact surgeon to reschedule.

I am not sure if it is true or not, but somehow I recall that bleeding can be more with thryoid being at high levels. In general the dentist and all other doctors need to know what thyroid medication and dose you are on.
