17 Months Later

Time flies when you're having fun doesn't it?
It's been 17 months now since my sleeve and I thought I would check in on how things are going:
I lost my excess weight in 7 months. It is different for everybody though so never judge yourself against anyone else.

I had a hard time drinking protein shakes as as I never really found one I like so I complained heaps. You just have to suck it up and drink them!

I already exercised heaps with running and crossfit so I carried that on. I now do hot yoga and haven't run for ages (but I will on vacations). It is good to try other forms of exercise and I have always been a big hot yoga fan.

It has been a journey just in terms of my iron levels and ferritin but this was an ongoing story from before. I do take probably more vitamins and iron stuff and injections and what not than most other people and its a huge pain in the butt but I would feel dreadful with out it. This wasn't really to do with the surgery but not being able to eat much has probably impacted on that. But I would rather be smaller and healthier and have to take more vitamins and shamoz.

I still have pretty tight restriction but on some days can eat more than others. My diet is basically really varied. I don't diet. I eat real food, I don't eat processed. I include all food groups. I eat cake! (Gorgeous and organic and made by me of course!) I really can't get with the cutting out whole food group thing or even diet mentality. If you eat real food and don't overeat you'll be good. If you eat processed food ... look you might be good, I don't know, but I think real food might make you feel a bit more sparkly! But drive your own bus :-)

It's also worth noting that I have never struggled with emotional eating or food addiction, I just had a robust appetite. Some folks need a bit more support around those issues and that can be really helpful.

It's been totally worth it.

And I got a new French bob haircut... I shall put up a photo :-)Click image for larger version.

The iron deficiency is a big issue post-sleeve. From all studies I've been reading and many conversations with specialist there is a clear link. If you have an issue before, it will get worth after. See what happened to me...I think I should have been more carefull and ask for a monthly blood test, that would have prevented to discover that my anemia got worth too late..

Anyway!!! happy for your success!!! I think you look amazing in all photos and with all hair style, but I really think you look even more amazing with short hair!!
It's the same thing for me but I did let it grow into a bob...since I don't know where I will leave next...sometimes good hair dresser are not easy to find...it's easier to manage that way!!

Congrats on your success!! and keep up the good work!! but watch out for the "24 month corner" that's where in stats the weight could come back a little...for me anemia probably got work too..

    Take care!

Yes I think I am going to have to keep a keen eye on the anaemia Sandra. Luckily I do have a good hairdresser but they are inclined to leave to travel to different cities... I shall try to hang on to mine!!! :-)
