Time flies when you're having fun doesn't it?
It's been 17 months now since my sleeve and I thought I would check in on how things are going:
I lost my excess weight in 7 months. It is different for everybody though so never judge yourself against anyone else.
I had a hard time drinking protein shakes as as I never really found one I like so I complained heaps. You just have to suck it up and drink them!
I already exercised heaps with running and crossfit so I carried that on. I now do hot yoga and haven't run for ages (but I will on vacations). It is good to try other forms of exercise and I have always been a big hot yoga fan.
It has been a journey just in terms of my iron levels and ferritin but this was an ongoing story from before. I do take probably more vitamins and iron stuff and injections and what not than most other people and its a huge pain in the butt but I would feel dreadful with out it. This wasn't really to do with the surgery but not being able to eat much has probably impacted on that. But I would rather be smaller and healthier and have to take more vitamins and shamoz.
I still have pretty tight restriction but on some days can eat more than others. My diet is basically really varied. I don't diet. I eat real food, I don't eat processed. I include all food groups. I eat cake! (Gorgeous and organic and made by me of course!) I really can't get with the cutting out whole food group thing or even diet mentality. If you eat real food and don't overeat you'll be good. If you eat processed food ... look you might be good, I don't know, but I think real food might make you feel a bit more sparkly! But drive your own bus :-)
It's also worth noting that I have never struggled with emotional eating or food addiction, I just had a robust appetite. Some folks need a bit more support around those issues and that can be really helpful.
It's been totally worth it.
And I got a new French bob haircut... I shall put up a photo :-)
