Merry Christmas!-Big Changes-Crazy New Year-2019 Will Be Amazing!!

Hello all my lovelies. I just wanted to share some exciting news. It has all happened so quickly that this is the first time I have had to stop and breathe. So my mother in law fell back in late October. She is a widow and lives about an hour from us and about 1/2 hour from my sister in law. We were all worried about her since she is so far out. We (hubby and I) had considered moving her in with us when my father in law died 2 years ago but she seemed very happy on her own and we did not want to offend her.
Now with the fall we were all worried. I discussed her moving in with the hubby but he did not know how to bring it up without offending her. We went out to visit and pick up lunch. Hubby went out to get her little grocery list. I just brought it up to my mother in law about moving in with us. I told her to not take it wrong but the fall scared us and also that she must get lonely now that Pops is gone. I told her we were not intending to buy a bigger house for another year or so but we could move up the time line if she wanted to come and live with us. She was actually quite happy with the idea. So we started to look for a house we wanted.
Fast forward another few weeks and I found a subdivision that was building and fell in love with the model home. It is huge and has all that we are looking for. Sent the virtual tour to my MIL and she also loved it. We are buying the house together and we are selling our respective homes. So we picked her up one day and took her to see it. We knew it was the one for us. We saw the home and within a week put down the earnest money and applied for a loan. That was 11/27. Within a week we had all the documents to the loan officer. Within a few days we had approval. On the 18th of December we went and picked out all our upgrades and colors. The lady at the design studio said she had never seen someone's approval happen so quickly. Usually it takes 2 months from start to going to studio but we were there in 3 weeks. So we will be breaking ground soon on the new house and it should be done in about 4 months!!!
So now we are rushing to get things ready to put our current home on the market. On top of that, I recently went work from home. So things have been so non stop busy. I am excited about the new house. I am happy things are moving quickly but never dreamed it would all happen so fast. You don't realize how much has to be done. And I am a total type A personality so I like planning and preparation. This has been a whirlwind experience. I have not let it derail my eating habits or exercise habits. If anything, I have to be careful not to lose any weight as I am constantly moving with repairs and packing and what not.
So, that is my super exciting and happy news. I am so excited for the upcoming year. Wishing you all a Merry Christmas or any other holiday you celebrate and a super, happy, healthy, and successful New Year for 2019. Keep being the fabulous people you are and keep rocking those sleeves. For my friends waiting to be sleeved....your time is coming and I look forward to watching you blossom! Big hugs my friends!!

    New job also!!
But you are used to moving a lot like us, so the new house and move will be a walk in the park for you! You will rock all that hard work!

I wish you the very best for 2019 my friend, for you and your family, and a Very Merry Christmas!

    Wow! Huge changes!
Can I please respectfully suggest in view of you taking on your MIL with her health and medical problems that you look at things at your new house such as extra wide door openings, carer friendly showers, ramp to entrance to house etc. Being realistic, her health isn't going to improve, and neither will (probably) her mobility. And the older she gets (sorry) the more she will deteriorate.
I hope that she has some sort of outside sourced "domestic assistance" (not you, outside services) to help her maintain her "acitivities of daily living" e.g. hygiene, feeding, mobility, socialising, etc. (Speaking from experience ).
Can only wish you all the best x.

Thank you Lisa. This is truly the perfect house and in the area we wanted to stay. (Less than a mile from our current home so we can check on the building process frequently throughout.) I am so very happy and anxious all at the same time. LOL. Kind of like waiting to get sleeved. Merry Christmas!

Thanks Sandra. Yes, I am a pro at moving but now the added stress of selling our current house at just the right time. Not too early so the move will be as seamless as possible. I just usually have a lot more prep and planning time. I am a list maker like you would not believe. LOL. Wishing you and your family a Merry Christmas and Happy 2019 as well. Will be praying that your doctors are able to find you some relief for a healthier 2019. Hugs.

Absolutely. We have already thought of all the long term needs. We have the height/weight toilets, hers is a walk in shower with seat, all door handles are lever versus knobs, her room is downstairs and large enough to accommodate any future medical equipment, etc. She is currently pretty healthy other than asthma and occasional need for oxygen. The fall was as she was leaving the dealership from getting her car serviced. She missed the curb. We are prepping for when the time comes, though. As of right now, she is very independent. We just worried that if something happened when she is so far out and all alone it could be tragic. Also, as a widow she is isolated and lonely on her own. Merry Christmas to you!

Yes. Getting the current house ready to put on the market is stressful. Our current home has some paint colors that we are not sure the name of. We can't find it in our paperwork from when my hubby bought the house. So we are going to see if the builder can shed some light. We know it is Sherman Williams but not sure the shade. I tried with some of those paint shade cards from Lowe's but was not successful. Grrr. Obviously we do not want to have to pay to repaint the whole interior. It is just some small areas to touch up. It is just kind of stressful and the hubby is soooooooo annoying when he is stressed. It is taking everything in me not to smother him in his sleep. LOL. But on a happy note they have already put up the boards for the slab. They still have to put the pipes down before the slab but hey... it is progress. And they will be done super fast so we gotta get moving on stuff. And to top it off, obviously we will have to help my MIL get her house ready as well. Wish me luck to not go crazy or have weight troubles during this time. The stress could make me gain or lose....hard to say. I just want to maintain healthy.
