Hello dear friends,
One week ago, I saw my gyn surgeon, who said that we will wait for the procedure since my lungs (or stomach) are not ok right now. So we booked a date in February to have time to stabilize the other issues.
The same day I also saw a bariatric surgeon. I was not impressed to say the least.
While I was telling her about my issues, she was only criticizing my (previous) surgeon's choice to get me a sleeve and not a bypass (and I did explain why that choice was made but she was not listening) offered no solution, then she wanted me to be hospitalized twice, one day for studies of my stomach (I do agree it has to be done) and one day for "nutrition study" (what the heck??? that's not the emergency!!).
The fact that I was in pain and needed attention "quickly" didn't seem to be important to her eyes, even if I said it was painful and my stomach issue was a problem for breezing. She said "the staff will contact you quickly for scheduling" it's been one week and nothing. Besides her awful bedside manners, I think she made a point about the hypoglycemia, but was wrong about so many other things I can't really trust her.
So right after that useless appointment, I organized to meet with an other bariatric surgeon in an other hospital. I need to trust the physician, but also make sure he/she will listen to my concerns. Last week consult's was a waste of time.
Yesterday I saw a specialist in intern medicine just to make sure that we don't get lost and forget issues that could be underlying and making damages anyway. So I had tests to hopefully exclude lupus and other auto immune issues...(because I had a test positive to lupus during my last pregnancy...but no other issue after so that part has to be cleared). I hope the blood tests will give a good idea of what's wrong or not...the doctor was really cold and not really listening...either!!
At least the nurse was helping, she gave me a good idea of "what to expect or not" ...
Today I will see a pneumologist for more tests and try to figure out if something is wrong with my lungs (besides the part of my stomach being in the lung cavity).
Tomorrow I will see the other bariatric surgeon....hopefully this one will have an other way of practicing medicine.
Right now it seems that when I see a doctor "in private" and pay more for the consult they try to help, when all the doctors in public hospital (paid by the state...so paid less) don't really care...shame...
I can't even imagine how people who are sick but also illiterate and penny-less can manage to get treatment in that kind of system. It's like fighting against the administration!! Red tape all over!!!
Unless you get an open fracture or a heart attack, you can wait for MONTHS before getting treatment!! (why do I pay so much taxes exactly??)
No wonder my countryman are wearing yellow jackets and protesting in the streets. The health system is so much worth today ...sigh..
