Bile Reflux

I am 3 days shy of 3 months post op from sleeve surgery. I am 55 lbs lighter but suffering with major bile reflux issues. Is anyone else having this problem? I am on 4 different medications that barely touch the surface.

    Hi,

    I suffered from that and wound up with grade c esophagitis. I'd suggest seeing a GI specialist and possibly getting a manometry which will examine the pressure in your esophagus and revised stomach. For me the meds didn't really do much and I wound up having to convert from a sleeve to gastric bypass. Hope that helps, oh wait! See if you can get a barium swallow into lower bowel, that too will help. If it gets incredibly painful see if you can get a script for lidocaine and magnesium. I forget what they call it but it's an effective method for numbing the pain in the esophagus.

    Unfortunately that can happen with the sleeve, especially if you had issues prior to sleeve. Have they checked for a hernia? What does your surgeon or PCP say?

    I suffered bad for the first 12 months than it just went. I used to take a nexium every morning and if i forgot to take it i would pay big time. nearly 2 years out i dont get it anymore.
