Surgery went fine. My anxiety was high the morning of, I shared that with the med team and they gave me something to calm me. I was awake when they rolled me to OR but a few breaths of the mask and I don't remember a thing. Woke up in recovery hurting which I expressed and was quickly given meds and back to sleep again. Woke up in my room and received routine meds for pain, nausea, acid reflux. Narcotic pain med was not good for me as it made me dry heave. So I stuck with routine Tylenol. Start taking sips and short walks as soon as you can. I didn't "want to" but did it. I stayed 1 night in hospital then home. I'm still sore. Tired. Thirsty. But doing this thang!
My cuisine is SF Popsicles, chicken or beef broth (I used Campbell's chick noodle soup and drain, don't like broth from can), G2 Grape, Water, Water, Water. Took in half a protein shake on post op day 3. Yuk. Too thick and artificial tasting.not really hungry but I think my stomach is growling. Or bubbling. Or mad. ?
1st few days my throat/esophagus felt tight and even little sips were hard to get down. It's better now but I feel the limits. I want to chug water, but I know there is NO WAY!!!!

try VCore Shakes from Complete Nutrition the Cookies and Cream is Amazing! Add a scoop of peanut butter and low fat milk 1 cup of ice and blend. Its like eating an Ice cream and has slow release protein and will keep you satisfied.

I couldn't stand the shakes immediately post op. I survived on creamed soups made with nonfat milk (a tablespoon or two at a time), hot tea, and sugar free popsicles. I also had a sore throat initially. You won't get much the first week or so. You will be sleepy but it will get better gradually. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Hope you're feeling better. Like you my anxiety is through the roof and I still have a little over a week to go. I keep questioning myself if I am doing the right thing. The fear of unknown is paralyzing. But reading your experience it gives me hope, that I can to do this too. How are feeling today? Are you in much pain? I am hoping that all is well.
