6 Months Post Op and Fingers Crossed

Rate this Entry
I can not believe it has been 6 months already post op. I remember the days of sucking down chicken broth, slurping sugar free gelatin and being hangry! lol

Now I can say that I am completely adapted to my new way of life with my sleeve. Best decision I made in my life for countless reasons.

I am down 90 pounds now but that has been with limited exercise due to having severe osteoarthritis in both hips, just diagnosed 2 weeks ago because I finally could fit into an MRI machine..

Now the fingers crossed point of my note.

Saw a hip specialist yesterday and although eventually I will need to get both hips replaced we are going to try injections. Did my left hip yesterday and if it takes will do the right. Feels a bit better already and I was told that I will really know after about 48 hours.

God, I hope this works for short term relief so that I can exercise more as I know this will accelerate my weight loss.

If I could get back on the golf course I will probably cry. I used to be part of an every Saturday morning group and boy did we have fun. I want those days back desperately.

Wish me luck!

And I wish everyone else the best on their journeys as well!!

Regards,

Tommy

Fingers crossed Tommy! Let us know if it works. Can you swim with osteoarthritis? I'm only asking because I don't know how bad yours is. Maybe that can be an option?? Also, I've got to say 90 lbs in 6 months is freaking awesome!! Way to go. I can only imagine how quickly you will be able to lose weight if the injections work and you can start exercising too. So happy with your success my friend. Here's to a continued healthy new life! Cheers!
PS-Hope you get to golf again. I know how hard it is to give up something you love. I am so thankful to be running again.

    Tommy,
what kind of injections are you getting? My mother and sister both had hip pain and were heading to replacement surgery and stem cell injections got rid of the pain completely. Not sure if that is what are you getting or if it's something else.

Hey PokeyGuy, I had regular old cortisone injection. Feels pretty good today so I am going to do the other one this Friday. I am intrigued regarding the stem cell injections and am going to ask about that on Friday as well.

I am walking pretty good today!

Congratulations on the weight loss! Fingers crossed about the injections working for you. If I couldn't exercise -I am quite sure I wouldn't have dropped this amount of weight so quickly (93 pounds total (Dec-March).... 51 since March)- so here's wishing you pain free hips. And dust off those clubs. You'll be out there before you know it.
