lost my way

I would like to hear some insights as to how to motivate yourself. I have had a sleeve for like 2 years and seems I lost my way a long time ago. Anyone want to chime in?

lil-lisa -- I am so sorry to hear that.

What do YOU think contributed to your going down the wrong path?

And how do YOU think you could start using the power of your sleeve again?

I know this may not be for everyone but psychological therapy has helped me a lot. I'm an emotional eater. My therapist and I are starting to determine what my triggers are.

I wish you only the best for getting back on track.

    You can do it!

I'm 2 1/2 years out. I am motivated by preop pictures of myself. I can not ever go back there again. Reading posts from others that have regained has shown me how easy it would be if I let my guard down. So I do not let myself get even one pound over my bounce range. If I do, it's straight back to strict protein and veggies or even liquid "preop diet" until I am back down to the bottom of my range.

And like Yellow Rose, my therapist has been crucial to my success. She is not a bariatric specialist and doesn't even know what VSG is. But it's the lessons I've learned about myself and the excercises she has taught me about dealing with life's stresses without good and alcohol that has kept those old, bad eating habits at bay. I also started taking Wellbutrin about 6 months ago which has literally changed my life. It helps make dealing with life just a little easier.

Hi Lisa, I am sorry you are struggling. Been there... Now is the time to get back on track. Feeling like crap about yourself and regrets will only pull you down further. Back...to...basics!! Keep your carbs to about 30 for a few weeks and don't let anything knock you off. Your body cannot help but start losing again. Myfitnesspal was unvaluable in keeping me focused. Keep coming back here for support!!! Hang in there!!

    Hey you!

Thanks for shouting back. I did get off track for a slight moment but I'm getting back under control now. I'm about 6 pounds away from getting back to my bodies goal weight. Should be there in the next 2 weeks. Feels great to have my clothes feeling right again. Started to dedicate full time effort to my WLS channel check it out and subscribe to support me. I can use all the help I can get. Let me know how you feel about it or what you think I should talk about?

    Thanks abunch!

    Hi Lisa,

We've all been there. I lost my way with my Lap Band due to complications and am looking for a revision. Although I haven't gotten the sleeve yet, I do know what the struggle feels like as a bandster. What used to keep me motivated was changing up my physical hobbies. I joined a spinning class, then did a yoga workshop, then one time I joined a spring boot camp in my local park. I found that these things work for me since I am social and like to meet new people. It also allows me to switch it up a bit so I won't get bored with one specific routine. As for the eating part, take a culinary class if time permits. This can allow you to cook better for your new lifestyle. And I know all of these things sound expensive and time consuming, but you can take some of those classes at your local Y or community centers. And for the time, if evenings/weekends permits, you can squeeze them in.

I hope these tips are helpful to you. They certainly helped me shed my 83 lbs. and maintained for a few years.

    Belle
