February 24th Is The Day!

Chronic Fevers

Rate this Entry
Hi Everyone, So I honestly don't think this has anything to do with my sleeve but at this point I am really desperate for some answers. I will start at the beginning which was December 29th with a massive tooth infection and fever so I had that tooth pulled then got another tooth infection and had a root canal so that got fixed. Then the infection moved into my lungs so needless to say more antibiotics. I am 14 months out lost all of my weight and then some and doing great in the weight loss area.

Since December 29th until present I have been on 7 different antibiotics and have had a fever each and every day since so that makes it almost 5 months straight. My Dr. is doing everything she can and we still can't figure it out. I had a CT scan on my lungs and the results were perfect aside from being inflamed from coughing up crap for 5 months now. I had a Pulmonology test (ie:breathing test) done came out normal, she now has me seeing a pulminologist specialist so waiting for the call to make an appointment. I honestly don't know what they are looking for or what the point is if the test came back normal. My regular Gastric Sleeve blood work was done in March and I got an A+ across the board so they are saying it doesn't have anything to do with cell count. My fevers come and go all day long between 99 - 101 now keep in mind I am normal at 97.5.

So long story short fevers every single day maybe I get a day off once in a blue moon. I push myself to live as normal as possible and clean my house, take care of my family, Work my job, go shopping etc. etc.. I will not allow myself to lay in bed all day even though that's what I feel like doing but this has become such a way of life for me that I have no choice but to keep it moving. I am just curious if there are any Nurses or Drs. on here that may have any ideas at all as to what could be causing this. I know my Dr. is doing everything she can but I am really starting to become very impatient. I am also going on vacation out of the country at the end of June and I am concerned that one I will feel like crap the whole time and two should I even be traveling. This is solely something in my body because not one person that I have been around has caught this.

I hope I explained this clearly and any and all advice / suggestions are more than welcome. I do apologize that this doesn't have anything to do with the sleeve but I am just that desperate for answers. Thank you all so much!!!

    Hey!!
Did they test you for Lymes or other tick borne diseases?
Did you have blood tests other then for your sleeve appt?
    Something isn't quite right.
I'm going to talk to my friend, she is an RN in Norwalk and I'll text you

Lymes was one of the the first things I thought of, too. I had it and fever and fatigue were the main symptoms. I was sick for over a year before a new resident at the clinic decided to test me and I finally got a diagnosis and successful treatment. But if one of the seven antibiotics you were on was tetracycline or doxycycline you should have responded (although the full course of treatment is typically 6-8 weeks). In addition to tick titers, have they done blood cultures or looked for fungal infections?

Hi Kindle, Thank you so much for your response and suggestions. I mentioned the tick thing and they said the test is janky and I could end up with a false positive so they wanted to hold off and do other tests first. I don't recall those names for the antibiotics but will go to CVS later and have them do a print out of what I've been on and see if I have been on either one. Once I get this appointment with the pulmonologist I will push for both those tests and God willing get some answers. It's funny you said that about the antibiotics because 2 or 3 of them that I was on I did respond to and the fevers went away but once I was off for a week or so everything came back. The longest I was on anything was 2 weeks. This is really helpful and I can't thank you enough for taking the time to answer me, have a great day and I will keep you posted. The biggest downside is I think this is gonna be an even longer haul than it already is.

Hey Teri, Yeah text me when you hear anything. They do check your white and red cell count with those tests and they said I was in the normal range so that makes this even more confusing. I'll talk to you later and thanks for doing this I appreciate it!
