  1. I hope everything went well. Sorry I didn't see your post until tonight. I am nearing three months post-op, and the holidays have been bad for me. I had lost quite a bit of weight, but am afraid to look at a scale until mid-January. I had good success with Dr. Almanza, and only had one problem...but it was my fault, not his. I took out the stitches too soon and ended up needing wound care for three solid weeks, 7 days a week to take care of the hole in my belly that was not healing well.

I went alone and was very nervous, and still look back and realize I would have been much more relaxed if my wife could have joined me. The biggest shock to me now is that I crave food even though I'm not hungry. I remember them reminding me that they did surgery on my stomach, not my brain or my mouth. I got down to 206 within a month from 239 pounds. I'm a 5'11 inch male who previously had a lapband they removed at the same time they did the sleeve. I had the band for 9 years and 51 weeks. I started at 293 pounds back in 2007. Today I am off most of meds already, and no more CPAP machine. woohoo. Hang in there. Jim bchc59@hotmail.com
  2. Hello! I am scheduled for surgery with Dr. Almanza in 10/12. I know that pre-op jitters are normal, but it makes me feel better when I see others returning home with a successful procedure. Good luck this week and I will be following your post-op very carefully!
