I believe the Catheter is required, it is a 3-4 hour surgery. they put it in after you are asleep so you don't feel anything. The Biotene has a very mild mouthwash mint taste. good.

Thank you Linda for your diary of events, it was really helpful. My surgery is April 16th. I'm a little nervous, but after reading your diary, I feel much better. I didn't even think about a catheter or drain line. Is it necessary to have a catheter put in?, and what did that Biotene taste like? I haven't had a strict pre-op diet, just limited carbs, 3 fruits a day and lots of fluids. Good luck to you
