  1. Day 7 of pre op diet

    Hallo!
So, today is day 7 of the optifast diet and i have one more week to go. I thought I would give you some top tips on how to get through this stage as it can be a challenge!

    1. Drink more water. You totally need more than you think. Day 4, I was dizzy and headachy and possibly a little bit whingy. So, I had a scoot around the forum and decided water might save the day. It did. I felt so much better by the next day. I think lots of us don't drink enough water generally ...
  2. Day 4 of pre op diet

Today I am dizzy and have a big headache! All day so far. Bluuurghhh. I'm trying to up my water and I'm just thinking of it being all good practice for afterwards!!
Hopefully I will get past this stage in the next couple of days anyway and not have to much trouble from there.
I feel a bit rotton but I'm staying cheerful about it!!!
The worse thing is that I need to write a couple of reports before Tuesday and my concentration is in my boots.
How long did you feel the ...
  3. Coffee shots and heparin injections and pre op diet

So I picked up a couple of boxes of clexane (heparin) today. It's a blood thinning injection that I have to have every day for a month starting the night before surgery. I shall just stab myself in the belly every night. It stops all the nasty things like blood clots after surgery.
I also discovered a way to make the chocolate optifast shake a little more palatable. I put it in the vitamix with ice and a little bit of water and a shot of espresso. Taaaa daaa. This has changed my life! ...
  4. Consent signed

    Hi,
Popped in to see my surgeon today and got my consent signed and paid him up.
I'm glad thats all done. im going to have some b12 injections and maybe a couple of iron infusions. My ferratin and b12 has always been a bit in my boots. My partner is a doctor so thats handy, she can jab me!
The preop diet is fine, day 2. Like I said before, it's not nice but it does the trick. I'm just following everything to the letter and it's fine.
Hope everyone is travelling well ...
  5. Pre-op Diet

    Hi everyone,
So, I started my pre op diet today. For my plan it is 3xoptifast products a day. there are some allowed vegetables if you need them. I'm in Australia so its what they do here. I chose a shake for breakfast, a bar for lunch and a soup for dinner. i thought that might make it managable as I dont fancy 3 shakes a day.
I also bought a Vitamix the other week which i thought would come in useful over the next few weeks and it mixes them shakes up good!
    Now I have to ...
