Hi there, I just saw your post. I had a revision to a bypass after having a sleeve. If you still have questions I’m happy to answer. My reason for having the revision was due to severe acid reflux and hiatal hernia. It has been a difficult road and I miss how the sleeve worked. I happy to go into more details If you still have questions.

People here have done it. I'm sure you'll get some answers. Often it's because of severe GERD or another medical reason. If it's because you didn't follow the program the first time, then I don't get the second surgery. Good luck whatever you decide.

Our weight loss is such a problem for so many people who had a problem with our being so much bigger.

    Bless their hearts.

Yup. While I really don't care what people think, I love when people notice I have lost weight. I look like a different person. Especially since my face looks thinner. I know I feel a whole heck of a lot better. I have only told my family and a few close friends. I don't feel like it is everyone's business either. It was a personal decision to have the surgery and I am not the type to put my life on blast like some people do. My Facebook is not full of all my personal crap like some people on Facebook. It never seems to amaze me the amount of oversharing on Facebook. You can't take that crap back. Your man cheated on you or hit you?? It's great that you got over it but we can't unsee that post. People need to remember that. Wow....my post just went way off topic! LOL.

    It's funny, isn't it?

For me the weird thing is people think I am still losing weight, and I've weighted the exact same weight for about 2 1/2 years now. Very odd. I guess they can't get it through their brain that the fat girl isn't fat anymore.

To me it sounds like you should contact your MD. 1-2 bites is NOT enough nutrition. Are you getting your protein in? I'm 5 weeks out and can easily eat 1/3 to 1/2 cup of food. Protein first.
I'm a Registered nurse (GI specialty), and while I can appreciate everyone's journey is not the same, this seems wrong. Checking in with your MD can't hurt!

Look at Kindle's photo....if she's overeating, she sure isn't showing it! Lol

You will eat small amounts for a while, just listen to your body. DO NOT DRINK 30 min PRIOR or AFTER eating, you will not be able to eat as much and it just flushes the nutrients your body desperately needs through you. It may seem difficult but it is vital to your success. I have always used the Carnation Instant Breakfast, the regular one, because I can't stand protein shakes. You do what you have to do but do not drink and eat at the same time!!! It will get better! Best thing I have ever done!!! Good luck!

Nope, that's where the lifestyle and psychological changes come in to play and ultimately determine your failure or success. I could certainly regain if I let my sleeve dictate what I eat. But mentally, I won't ever let that happen.

Thank you for the advice. I do find I get hungry, but I quickly fill satisfied.
I am still throwing up at least once a week and only eating a bite or two.
I am losing weight like I'm supposed to, or maybe even quicker. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones.
I know this is a process, I just worry because I thought I could eat food by now. Looks like I just need to be more patient.
Isn't it amazing how much food people eat? Here we are living off of so few calories and surviving. TV commercials kill me. They show these huge servings and everyone is eating them. I never realized how much I overate before. This surgery definitely saved my life.
I am so thankful that I had it done.

I am a couple weeks from my 1 year surgeversary and although I am not at goal weight, I am very happy with how far I've gotten, I am 124 lbs, I'm a size 0 in jeans and an XS in tops so that's as small as I'd like to be lol. Anyway, my point is that some days I feel like I'm eating a lot more than I'm supposed to. When I overeat I always throw up, but a lot of times it just feels uncomfortable. Maybe I need to start tracking again. My hubby is thinking of getting the surgery in February so hopefully we can help each other. I know he will need my help so by helping him I will be helping myself by going back to the basics
I am also very scared of eventually being able to eat like I used before surgery. So if you're getting all your daily vitamins , water and protein , I would say enjoy your new tummy!! After all, the surgery was intended to make you eat less right? I think it's doing the right thing!!

I'm over 7-months post op and sometimes I forget I have had Gastric Sleeve surgery, I'm not overly eating, but I was getting a little worried about it so I started logging my food again, and last few days calories are at about 1150 same as I was eating two and three months ago, and still losing the same amount of weight which has been between 4-5 lbs a month. I still cannot eat a meal in one seating, nor do I want to. I'm scared of the day that I will be able to.

I am 8.5 weeks out. I can only eat 1-2 bites of food as well. I can take my time and wait and eventually get another bite or two in. I do supplement my protein intake with my EAS Advant Edge protein shake. It is the only one I like so far. I don't always get all my protein in but I am trying. I am not too worried about it. I have energy and I feel good. I know it will get better and easier in time. I had a pretty good idea what to expect since my sister had the surgery 5 years ago. Also the softer, moister a food is the easier it is. If something is dryer and thicker it makes me full quicker and gives me discomfort.

My surgeon cleared me to eat "everything" at one month but for at least three months it was easier to eat soups. I mixed my meat/protein or tofu with my veggie soup or split peas soup and that way was so much easier. Also when eating soft food you still need to eat bites the size of a peanut for at least 3 months and forget about drinking with meals at all. If you drink you can't eat and you need your protein. I had a hard time getting enough protein for months, even with the protein shakes. In one month or two you should feel much better.

My scale is still not moving, but I can tell I'm losing inches, so I'm going to try to stay off the scale. This will not be easy for me. I want verification of what I'm feeling and seeing.
There is no way that I have not lost more weight. I haven't been able to eat anything and My clothes are so much looser.
I know it sounds like I'm whining, but I just need someplace that understands how I feel.
  21. Fatbgone's Avatar
Yes. Part of my problem is I want to eat more than one bite. Sometimes one bite is too much.
I need to just switch to easy soft foods. I am not getting enough protein in. It's my own fault. I have a mental thing about protein shakes. I have lost weight on them in the past and I now want nothing to do with them.
I need to find an alternative to shakes. Does anyone have an idea?

And I know what you mean about the scale being evil. I got on the scale this morning and I was down again. ARG! I need to stop looking at it, but I don't seem to be able to stop myself.

I hate to sound like I'm miserable, because in all honesty I have lost a ton of weight and I'm grateful. I guess I'm just wishing the process of healing was quicker.

I'm 6.5 weeks and can only eat eat 2-3 bites. Then I've got to wait a long while before having more. Are you trying to eat too many bites? Maybe start with one bite?
  23. elle77's Avatar
It will come off. The scale is evil lol
If your clothes feel loose and you are following the guidelines or trying to get your fluids and proteins in then you are good. I have stalls, weird weight gains from retaining water and then a few days later BAM it's gone! I'm more than 30 days out and I still have issues with good so I stick to the stuff that works for me. You will find you perfect balance. If you are still having problems with food just focus on the basics until you are ready!

Sandra gave a great visual for how the process for eating at this stage. I thought I wasn't eating enough at this stage, told the surgeon and he said, "Isn't that why you had weight loss surgery?" The answer was a resounding, "YEP".

You'll find your way and I wish you continued success on your journey!

Your very welcome! we can't eat much during the first six months, that's why it's important to have those protein shakes to help reach the required protein level. For me it's 60 gr protein per day and I had a hard time to reach it during the first three months.
There's many things I couldn't have, eggs was hard and even now sometimes I can't eat more than one. At the beginning what I liked to do was to make a veggie soup and mix my meat in it. Also split peas pured was great, with a little cheese on top. Any dry meat was impossible to eat...still today I'm careful to have everything really moist.

Thank you. I think it's a combination of drinking too close to eating and trying to eat more than 2 bites. I also think that is my limit.

Thanks for the info about peanut sized food. Waiting several minutes for a "bite" to go down will definitely take some practice....

Talk to your surgeon. They can check to see if something is wrong, and if not they can give you anti-nausea meds.

I can't relate because never threw up in 3 years. I was very lucky.
