  1. Success and Lows

This week I had my first return appointment. I am down 10lbs since the surgery and 10 lbs was lost during pre-op. (Someone should market that pre-op liquid week as a wedding diet!)
It normally takes me forever to loose that many pounds and to say I am 20 down is exciting. But, I don't feel it. My mother, a best friend Al, and my boss all commented on my face being thinner, I wore a dress to an informational interview that over Christmas was a bit too tight, and my PJs did fall off of me ...
  2. Transition to Fork Mash-able

Today I can start my fork maskable food stages. What is on the list? eggs, tuna, mashed legumes, etc. I woke up VERY excited about this possibility and have stocked my fridge with salmon, refried beans, lima beans, and eggs. I started with scrambled eggs (2) although one did break on the floor. After lightly scrambling the egg, not drinking 30 minutes before, and not during I eagerly sat down to chew (27 times each bite) for the first time in 3 weeks.

Well, that did not settle too ...
  3. One Week Post-Op

Today marks the one-week anniversary since the surgery. WOW how much has changed. I had no idea how much better I would be feeling just 7 days after the surgery. The only pain that remains is at my larger incision site, my inability to bend totally over, get up quickly, and some issues with bms.

The pain and uncomfortableness with swallowing has pretty much gone away and I am managing all 10 of the pills and vitamins easily! Is anybody taking ursodiol? I have been three times a day ...
  4. First Day Home

Today is my first day home after my sleeve. I want to take a second a talk about the process at the hospital for anyone interested or about to go through it.

I arrived and had more blood drawn for the anesthesiologist. My tech was the same one I have had in the past-I've seen her when she first got a new boyfriend, when the boyfriend was meeting the protective brother, and now the boyfriend met the family over Christmas and all went well! After that and a urine test (on no liquids ...
  5. Tomorrow is the big day

Tomorrow I report at 8:30am for the surgery. It helps there is a Downton Abbey marathon on right now-a crazy family but a calming show.

I have a headache and kind of become overcome with tears each time I concentrate on tomorrow. I guess this is fear of the unknown. I know nobody that has gone through this which is why I joined this forum. My mother comparing it to her arm surgery at every turn isn't helping.

I very much want to fast forward through thsee next weeks ...
