  1. Returning for some advice

OK, here goes the situation ...

I was told by the program coordinator to have my psychiatrist perform the psych evaluation. So I did, almost a month ago. I have been wondering about something my psychiatrist said and need some objective advice.

I have since discovered my psychiatrist does NOT perform psych evaluations for bariatric surgery. She even admitted she did not know exactly the criteria they wanted for the psych evaluation. On hindsight, I think she could ...
  2. I had my psych evaluation ...

My psychiatrist said it wasn't about passing or failing but rather being ready for surgery. She started asking about my relationship with food and how/why I began eating. It brought up painful memories that I had not thought about in a while. I got upset and realized I am not ready to deal with sudden weight loss, food triggers, and attention from a romantic viewpoint. So she suggested I get my lymphedema treated and understand the reasons why I turn to food for comfort. I decided to wait and see ...
  3. I Dreamed I had my surgery ...

I think this dream was a little funny so I thought I would share it. I will try to be concise.

I have about three to five months until my surgery so ... I am thinking of starting a low carb diet, like South Beach, before the 29th to try and jump start my weight loss. Or should I wait to meet with the Nut? Just concerned about losing the weight. My surgeon wants to decrease my BMI from 77 to 66 before surgery. I ...
  5. Spoke to Program Coordinator this morning

Hi! So I have my three months of nutritionist appointments scheduled. My surgeon wants me to lose 50 pounds before surgery to get my BMI to 66 instead of at 76. She said the surgery would still be doable at 76 but would be safer if my BMI was 66. So I am excited to lose 50 pounds but scared it won't come off. But I am going to to do my best to fulfill the expectation. I want the surgery to be as safe as possible.

I am lucky that my insurance will cover 100% of the cost of surgery. ...
