  1. Hair differences

I am only 5 weeks post surgery and so far no hair loss. I didn't expect any this early on but what has changed is the texture. I have curly hair and even in this humidity my hair is much straighter. This is not a bad thing, just noticing.

When I had my thyroid removed at age 19 I went bald and when it came back it was lighter and straighter and much more fine. Go figure.

Curious if anyone else has noticed differences in their hair beyond loss.
  2. Just joined the YMCA

I am 4 weeks post op and, if anything, my back is worse. I was hoping that losing weight would help my back from when I suffered a terrible fall. I have lost about 60 pounds since the fall (almost 40 since joining the program and post op) and my back is still as awful as usual. I have a feeling it just isn't going to get better. I did PT, Massage Therapy, Chiropractor, accupuncture, steroid shots, pain meds, and maybe even more.

I was going to rejoin Curves but I am afraid of the ...
  3. I more day of Lovenox. I hate this so much.

So did any of you have to take Lovenox shots post surgery? I might be spelling it wrong but it's an anti coagulation shot you use for 14 days after you get home to make sure your blood doesn't clot. My husband is giving me the shots and let's just say it's a good thing he is not a plebotomist. I look like an abused spouse! A couple of times he hit the muscle and I am so bruised and swollen I look like I went a couple of rounds with Mike Tyson. Tomorrow is my last shot.

    I never had ...
  4. Two weeks out and doing fine

Two weeks ago I was at the hospital in a freezing waiting room waiting for my name to be called. I woke up and the journey began. So far it's been almost a non event in terms of pain. I've learned a few tricks that work for me like freezing my protein drinks so I eat it like ice cream to slow me down on eating. I've managed to find some bras that should work for a few months which is a great relief. I have a lady coming over for the rest of my pre-surgery clothing and life is good. I have to resist ...
  5. A great way to have protein drinks

I am 9 days post and the hardest thing is for me to eat slowly. I seem to be okay on the little food I am eating, but the shakes is a whole different thing.

So yesterday I bought a Hamilton Beach personal blender to make protein shakes and all the powder, Greek Yogurt, frozen fruits, soy milk, etc. It's kind of fun dreaming up concoctions.

I am freezing several different flavored batches in single serving containers and eating it like ice cream. They are rock solid ...
